clarkkemp Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 My shiny new Multispace arrived today and it's cavernous.I have 2 children under 2 and for the first time they could see out the windows.Got the works modutop and comfort pack certainly makes it feel almost jeep like.Seems to be very few in this part of Scotland (so if you see me give me a wave ) Quote
Albert Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 What engine did you choose? Modutop. What a great idea they are! I think it's a totally unique feature and I haven't seen it in any other vehicle. My kids hide all there junk in the roof lockers and love the rear fan system. I keep all my junk in the rear locker, which seems to keep the rest of the car tidy! Quote
StephenM Posted April 30, 2003 Posted April 30, 2003 I am from up in sunny scotland too (glasgow) - I didnt get any options fitted, really wanted the comfort pack, but would have to wait an extra month for this! had sold my car so I needed the berlingo quickley. I am now annoyed that I didnt go for the modutop - but wished I had now. No dealers had a car with this fitted, I only saw it after I got my car. Air con and safety pack would have been nice, but the extra cost of these options was horrendous and I felt missed the point with the Berlingo - good basic and cheap motoring - If I needed loads of toys I would be in Piccasso/Scenic territory! Was away at the weekend... 5 people, 2 tents, BBQ, sleeping bags, loads of food and clothing all fitted in - amazing! Quote

But the Scenic and Picasso are plain ugly! The 'Lingo has that undefinable 2CV-like rustic charm. Add the Safety pack and aircon, and it surprises virgin passengers (!) that there's so much kit in a van-with-windows. Add a CD changer in the under-seat slidy locker and they're gobsmacked! Add metallic paint, alloy wheels and a sunroof/modutop, and it even starts to look chic! It DOES start to add up, but best buy it when the VAT is knocked off and it brings you down to list price or thereabouts.... if you can bear the wait. My last car was a (crap!) BMW MINI, and the wait for the kitted-up Berlingo was longer than the delivery time on the MINI when there was still an official waiting list! Quote
Oxymoron Posted August 8, 2004 Posted August 8, 2004 Hi, The air con is invaluable as it comes with the heat reflective windscreen as well! Having been in the in-laws Blingo without it, I must say it can get very hot with all that glass! Cheerz. :( Quote
numbersix Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 On the subject of air-con , during this inferno called summer, decided to check at what speed and settings it becomes comfortable. On the day in question it was a modest 27 degrees.Comfort was achieved at 50mph ,vents fully opened blower set at 3.Now when we slowed down it was still comfortable.Infact , from standing to getting to a road where 50mph was achieved , usually luddite precautions taken , that is windows open .The only time I percieve the need for air-con is if likely to be stood in slow moving traffic frequently . On the subject of the modutop, our friends at Vauxhall will be including their version on the new Zaffira. It is likely to be a £500 option, taking the list price to over £15000!!!. This will be a long central locker with separate compartments , giving an external appearance of a low mohican.A small price for such a premium brand!! Be seeing you!! Quote
Terry1100 Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004
our friends at Vauxhall will be including their version on the new Zaffira
Cripes ! - it's dark enough inside a Zaffira anyway - let alone one with a lower ceiling.
The only time I percieve the need for air-con is if likely to be stood in slow moving traffic frequently
Not a habitual user of the M25 then ! The other advantage of aircon is in the winter - much faster demist. . I wouldn't be without it. It was so muggy yesterday, I had the aicon at full chat in the C2 at 0500 hours :(
Air con and safety pack would have been nice, but the extra cost of these options was horrendous and I felt missed the point with the Berlingo - good basic and cheap motoring - If I needed loads of toys I would be in Piccasso/Scenic territory!
I'm not so sure - with every toy in the toybox, our Blingo barely cracked 10K - Picasso's might start at under 10 (just) but add the toys, and the engine to pull it and even with discount you're paying a couple of grand more for a lesser vehicle. At the end of the day, let's keep the Blingo a secret - let everyone else buy Picassos, it'll be good for our residuals :D Quote
Oxymoron Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 Hi, Have others also found that in wet, warm weather such as today's, the windows can steam up quite quickly and sporadically, for no apparent reason? A quick blast from the refridgerated air, clears the windows in seconds, however! Cheerz. :( Quote
