janvda Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Hello, My girlfriend just picked up her brand new C3 1.1 last week. Once when she was driving it, the engine suddenly stopped running. Luckily she could start her car again and drive on. Friday she has been to the dealers', but they couldn't do anything about it. They just ran the engine diagnostics, but couldn't find anything faulty. In the three days after she went to the dealers' the engine stopped running five times (just about every time she drives it). To me, it seems to be an electrical problem, or a problem with engine management, because from time to time, the engine makes Harley-Davidson-like noises. The engine doesn't "run smooth" at all. Anyone has this problem yet, or knows what to do? ps: hope you understand my english... i know it's not all that well :D Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 My Brothers New C3 1.6i 16v Exclusive Sensodrive have started doing the same thing. He had his on 30/1/06. The Key fell apart after onlyowning it for 3 days. I will be having them to do an engine management check on its 1,000 miles serve because the other day aswell when he stopped to let car through it went into reverse on its own aswell. My brother is not happy he had alot of faults with his last C3. Quote
hertsnminds Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I would write a letter to the dealer telling them they have 3 weeks to fix the fault. If it is not repaired to your satisfaction before that date you will reject the car as unfit for purpose and dangerous (I would think a car that randomly cuts out can be classed as this.) and you would like a full refund. It is likely they will tell you this is not possible but you should stand your ground and maybe say you will accept a brand new replacement car instead of a refund. If you let them keep trying to repair it without writing your letter then your rights diminish with time. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
janvda Posted March 14, 2006 Author Posted March 14, 2006 Hello, Thanks for the tips. The car has to go in for a check-up on thursday. If the problem isn't cured then, we will certainly write a letter, just to be on the safe side. But in the end, we hope it will be fixed soon, 'cause overall it's a very pleasant car to drive. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 According to Citroen the cutting out is nothing to do with the cutting out problems the old C3 02 - 05 reg C3s had. It must be a new fault but can only be repaired if it happens when the dealer has the car. My brothers car can go a week now with out it happening Quote
superbus Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I have a 3 year old citroen C3. i had alot of problems with it in the past, including battery change and oil leaks. some of the problems were fixed in the garage. there's one problem i can't trace nor understand. while driving i feel a sudden bump in the car and the motor slows down. there's a beep sound and snow and auto indicators start to blink. The engine does those harley davidson noise you were talking about. What was the problem in the old C3 (the one i have)? Quote
kfk Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Take a look at the injector connections.....particularly those that sit under the screen wash jets......make sure there not corroded Quote
superbus Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 another problem is a late gear change. i feel it's stuck on 2nd gear while i'm driving 50(km/h). i switch manually in these cases. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 My brothers gears tend to stick in gears a while as well. Like my car I get up to 5th quick even it Auto mode. His will do like up to around 20mph still in 1st. Quote
