Guest Old Mosher Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Hi all, I'm now the proud owner of a 2001 C5 2.2 Hdi Exclusive. I love it to bits and have already splashed out on a full diagnostic check. The local specialist that did check for me found lots of old faults suggesting it hadn't been wiped clean for a quick sale, nothing listed was a major fault and the FAP was regenerating as it should. I'm going to need a bit of help from you guys as I know very little about the car and I need to sort out a few bits and bobs. First of these is the key/remote. I only have one and Citroen are talking about £120+ for a new one and £90 to program it! I can't risk only owning one key in case it gets lost or fails. So what are my options? Quote

Does the second one need to be a remote? I have two keys, but only one is remote.. Quote
Guest Old Mosher Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 No, I would think not. Just as long as the car can be opend/used after it had been locked with the remote. Quote

You can get a "garage" key from the main dealer. No remote and the alarm goes off when you open the door, but it works fine once you start the engine - alarm stops and all is well. I got one 2 years ago for £20 plus programming. Fine for an emergency. Quote

Certainly talks the talk and walks the walk, explained everything he found and left the car running and working well. Even the stereo system works properly now. Very reasonably priced too. :) Just a few odds and ends I forgot to ask him about/to look at that I need to sort out now. Quote
