Hi,i am new to this forum anyway yesterday i was comming home from work and i hit a dead deer,it was lying in the road and as i came around the bend i hit it full on and the car ran over it(it made an awfull thud)i was going around 45 mph,shortly after the engine died and the dash lights came on,i pulled over and tried to re-start it but it just cranked over but did not start,i had a quick look under the bonnet and all looked ok i mean it was dark but the timing belt was fine as was the drive belt,but thats really as far as i got,any help would be appriciated.

If yours is an early diesel engine, it may have an inertia switch which if you have an accident the switch acts on the injection solenoid to turn off the fuel supply. If you have one, look at the back of the engine compartment on the right. Maybe a rubber button pushed down will reset it.
