sistermusic Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Had our first long journey in our new 1.6i desire. Great on the motorway, feeling both faster and more secure than our old picasso. Great economy on the 450 mile round trip. Unfortunately we had a puncture and didn't realise for about tweny minutes: so it runs well even on 3 wheels! (£50 for a new tyre; not bad) Only one concern so far is that we've noticed some hairline cracks above the hinged door of the rear right locker of the modutop. Anyone else had this?We shall have to get the dealer to look at this before too long. Hope this won't mean a whole new modutop! :D Great car!! Quote

Terry1100 Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 No cracks in ours - but an awful lot of dirty fingerprints ! There have been posts about creaking from the modutop. Given that the way you tighten up the screws in a big piece of plastic like that is clearly critical - I guess that placing stresses on the plastic would cause it to crack over time. You might want to loosen a few screws (you'll probably need a Torx socket for inside the lockers), drive round the block a few times to "settle" it then tighten the screws up again. Quote
Oxymoron Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Hi,The allen key Torq thingy in the rear compartment, for undoing the roof rails also fits some of the bolts in the modutop!Cheerz. :) p.s. The dirty fingermarks come as standard from the factory....along with a coating of grey dust! Quote
Terry1100 Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I'd love to blame someone else for the fingermarks but it provides an excuse to shout at the kids. And the really dirty marks on the rear full width locker is an excuse for SWMBO to shout at me :) Quote
Oxymoron Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Hi,What do you use the rear locker for?....Ours has road maps, travel/picnic rug and warning triangle in.Also I find it useful for putting the wash bags and a towel in, when fully loaded up with luggage, on holiday....Means we can "freshen up" without disturbing the boot and cases etc!Cheerz. :) Quote
Terry1100 Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Same kind of things as us - as well as spare bulbs, the 12v compressor, and all the other things you really don't want to be unloading the car to reach on the side of the Autoroute. Quote
Oxymoron Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 Hi,I keep the spare bulbs, first aid kit and fire extinguisher in the net pocket at the side of the boot.....There's just TOO many storage solutions in the Blingo! Cheerz. :) Quote
