Received Letter today - Update the software of the airbags control unit, this update will enable it to take better account of frontal impacts that are below the legal thresholds for triggering the front airbags.

Operation is considered essential.

Estimated time of update = 2 hours.

lol I haven't received any letter as of yet (but I haven't been to my parents for a few days so might be there)

So I guess I'll have this work undertaken at the same time they are changing my squeeky brakes and investigating my rocking gearbox!!!

Guess that's the price you pay when you buy a car designed from scratch. I can't complain though as my local dealership have been as good as gold, and all repairs/updates are free :D

I havent had that letter yet but if that is taking 2 hours mine will probably be gone for a couple of days....bugger....they are having to take my boot apart as the sound deadening foam stuff has started to show between the window and the bodywork and its not watertight anymore, the passenger door has started rattling again and the gearbox rattle as mentioned on the other thread...

I haven't yet received that letter, but so far these the faults that my car has suffered from:

Rattle in Passenger Door

Rattle in Gearbox when changing gear / under acceleration

ABS Recall

Airbag Recall

Brake Squeeking Problem

Not to mention I had my head gasket changed after 10,000 miles. The perils of having a new model of car eh! Still wouldn't change it for the world though - well....maybe for a VTS :D

Just under 13,000 miles, with the car being a 05 plate. I dont think thats too bad! I have travelled in it a far bit - I had family and friends living in Hull, then Preston for example - and I'm from Cardiff !

so you have had to have a new head gasket?? so when do we think we are going to be offered new cars then :D Citroen cant have much of a profit margin left on them now...£300 on parts alone for the brake fix and times that by however many thousands of C4''s there are in the world. Muchos money

Yeah I guess whatever profit they made on selling me my C$ has gone out of the window by now!

Do you know the name of the software that Citroen keeps all of its technical information on? I'm sure we could pick one up from ebay etc.

I have no idea i'm afraid. I think it is Citroen specific thing, I was watching the guy at the parts centre when I had to buy a new wing they have a picture of the car and you click the secific area and it gives them the product codes and prices...I dont think something like that will find its way onto ebayoh hang on it probably will :D

You'd be susprised m8 - It is just a software program, so can be copied very easily. I know my brother has a Seat Ibiza and he found the Seat program very easily. In fact I think I'll take a look now...

Definately!

So have you got any pix of your C4? What model have you got?

I just took a pic on me phone but it is rubbish, looks fine on the phone but when its on the computer it is shocking. I will grab me proper camera when I get home and do a proper shot and post that

Mines an April 05 with over 20k on the clock now.

I have resolved the rattly doors myself, after the dealer had two failed attempts.

The brakes were squealing when I got it, but the dealer fixed these (new discs and pads).

The clutch is now starting to judder a little and the front suspension knocks under a quick get away.

Also, some little niggles, the display does not show the display its meant to when you put it in reverse and activate the parking sensors.

The dealer doesnt know how to activate the auxiliarry port for an MP3 player to be fitted.

The car also seems to make a strange sound when you blip the throttle. I think its just induction, but ive never heard anyhting like it on another car, a really loud gasping sucking noise.

Anyway, the car still goes and runs ok, so im sure there is nothing wrong.
