Stuey Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I think we are all generally happy but I am certainly heading rapidly towards the end of my teather...1 or 2 recalls is fine and to be expected from a brand new model it happens to ever new car from basic family cars to hypercars but now we are going onto recall 6 with the list of general faults growing from niggles, door rattles & annoying CD players rite up to major life and car threatening faults such as ABS control units catching fire and airbags not deplying in crashes... rant over, normal service can now resume :P Quote
Mike5483 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Im still happy with mine. The paint is fine, the airbags, I havent recieved a letter, the ABS was sorted before I got it. It was owned by a Citroen Rep based at Citroen HQ in Slough, so its been looked after ok. Quote
Welshguy Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Update: Letter Received yesterday. I will try and get Citroen to fit this update in while I'm having all the other required work done on the 15th... Quote
Joeblunt Posted May 13, 2006 Author Posted May 13, 2006 Had this recall done today - That's the Good News! B) The bad news is: Need new Front Offside Shock Absorber. (knocking on front) Need new Drivers Seatbelt (not retracting) Need new Key (Blip sticks on unlock) Need new Turbo Valve Housing (Oil leaking) Quote
Mat Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 I havent had a letter about this. And i can't see it mentioned on VOSA's website. Anyone know if its only for certain C4s, or has my post gone missing? Quote
Stuey Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 it looks like a very limited number of chassis numbers to be honest...I was talking to the chief technician when mine went in on Monday and he said it was nothing to worry about anyway it was merely the airbag check lights where staying on longer than the rest of the lights on the dash and it was making people worry... Quote
syrup Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Mines going in on the 24th. The recall letter says "update the software of the airbags control unit, this update will enable it to take better account of frontal impacts that are below the legal thresholds for triggering the front airbags". Quote

Sounds like your technician needs to read the letter the customers have been sent Quote
Mat Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 I got my letter at last, dated 15th May. I wonder why mine has taken so much longer. Am now getting the list of things for them to look at at the same time. Quote
Rob555 Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Mine is a 1.6 hdi 03/2005 model and it had the update last week they also replaced my front shockabsorbers , rear pads and calipers .The car was only in there for one day I have been pleased with the service my local dealer has given me. (so far) Quote
Welshguy Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 lol I wonder what the profit margins were on the C4's...I dont think Citroen will have made profits out of many C4's by the end of their warrenties! :) Quote
wozza Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Oh they will have made profit still. Just not as much. But then again they can probably claim money back from certain companies who supplied there parts if they were faulty. But these are just teething problems theres a new revision of the C4 due in 2007 apparently will likely be much better since we have been the guinea pigs for this model. Although i still love the car to bits no matter how many problems it gives me. I personally think they need to stick the V6 lump in one though. Or a 2 litre turbo unit. It'd be a laugh at least and a bit more of a serious hot hatch for the current crop thats around. Quote
Welshguy Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Like this you mean? :D Note the grille on the front bumper... :) http://img316.imageshack.us/img316/8867/tw20060520tx.jpghttp://img244.imageshack.us/img244/4381/grootc4120c41203qq.jpg Quote
Stuey Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 I need that now!! leave the wheels though thanks :) Quote
Welshguy Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Well they are 19's...but nasty ones! I wonder how much a Turbo conversion would cost.... :) Quote
lab44 Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 No major problems with mine so far (touch wood) :D though it is only two months and 1500 miles old. Still i do like that one in the piccy especally them doors and the wheels actually fit the arches :) Where was that photo taken - looks like a citroen garage. Quote
wozza Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 On the 180 engine around £3000 for the bolt on kit. Then installation and mapping after that. Depends how mechanically minded you are not that hard to actually build it yourself but mapping it you need someone who knows what there doing. Theres a turbo kit available for the 1.6 engine taking it up to 200+bhp. SUppose with a few other bits throttle bodies etc could get it near the 300bhp mark but i doubt it would be very reliable after that much tuning. Although the 1.6 is a rather good engine. And 19's just about fit the arches there lol. Think some nice Super tourismo's or some speedlines etc would look better. Just think multispokes or certain styles of 5 spoke wheels suit the C4 the best. I would love the C6 wheels on my C4 just in a bigger size as they look lovely in my opinion. Quote
Stuey Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 just looking at that picture again and that is a whole load of engine in a small space, I bet cooling is a nightmare!! Quote
wozza Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Theres an intercooler on the front if you look a little more carefully sat behind the grill. Other than that the actual size difference from the standard engine wont be much more couple more pipes new manifold and thats about it. Quote
Stuey Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 But a big difference in Va-va Voom ! :D good point, well made, point stands :P I didnt notice the intercooler on there, looks like a big one too so it probably runs cooler than our cars!! assuming the turbo isnt EVO FQ400 sized :D Quote
hertsnminds Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Had the XYD recall done yesterday, whilst the car was in asked them to check the fault log as to why the cruise control was failing. The response to what was the cause/fix for the cruise control failure is "we have done an internet download". Now I do internet downloads all day and none of them have fixed my cruise control problem. Why can't they be more specific? The car knows there has been a "speed control system failure" so it must know what casued the error state. Also any software patches I run on my computers always state what has been modified or why the update was required. I suspect the cruise control fault has not been fixed (sceptic that I am) but I will give them the benefit of the doubt for now. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
kfk Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 There is a new update for some 1.6 Hdi models - Download off the internet. Quote
