Hi all. I've just put a deposit on my very first Citroen and I should be picking it up soon. I have a few questions that I hope someone can answer:

1) I noticed the glowplugs took between 10-15 secs to preheat before the light went out for starting. The engine started no problem but I was just wondering if this was normal, or if it needs new glowplugs or something else? I've had a few diesel cars and they were all roughly ready to start after a 5 sec preheat.

2) Before and after starting there is a flashing orange light that can only be described as looking like a showerhead spray that comes on and stays on about 30 secs after starting. What is it?

I'm sure there was another question I had but I can't remember at the moment.

Cheers

John

10 seconds is normal for the glow plug to extinguish, if its taking longer it isnt an indication of a fault with the glow plugs....and if as you say it started ok i'd leave well alone.

The shower head that flashes - its the oil level indicator - its a dipstick!!!

Check the level before you drive it........if its correct on the dipstick it could have a sensor fault.

The sensor isnt used other than to flash the light so its not urgent to repair it.....just check oil regularly.

Are you buying a ZX Volcane? My first Citroen was a ZX Reflex in 1992 :( and enjoyed every minute of it.

i still have a ZX, reliable and fun to drive without the squeaks and rattles of modern cars!

Hi again.

Finally picked up my ZX Volcane TD on Saturday, it's great!

However I'm suffering what I think is a fairly common problem. The remote central locking won't lock/unlock unless I'm standing to the left of the boot at the back of the car pointing it next to the back windscreen. I thought it might've been the batteries in the remote but I changed them and it didn't make any difference.

I seen this problem once before on a Renault (Rubbish) Laguna but the guy didn't really bother about it. Can anyone help?
