wozza Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Those of us that pick petrols get the better deal generally now to be honest. less per litre in fuel costs, less to service doesnt need servicing as much, cheaper to insure not as much to buy in the first place takes a long time to recoup the price differences plus the diesels are slower. Although that new ford deal is rather good same price for the diesel as it is for the petrol. Quote

kfk Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Simplest way to provide a constant 12v supply would be to splice a wire into pin 1 of the three way green conector at the ignition switch. An alternative to this would be to splice a wire into pin 8 in the 8way black connector that plugs into rear of radio. Remove auxiliary socket and cut pin 2 - leave enough wire protruding from the plug so you can solder/crimp your new 12v constant supply to it. The cut wire should be properly insulated as it will have 12volts down it with the engine running! Assuming i'm correct this will mean you have a constant supply on your auxiliary socket and a cigarette lighter that looses its power with ignition off. Before you cut/splice any wires confirm they have 12volt supplies to start with using a multimeter (not a test light). when connecting to either the ignition switch or rear of radio do not cut the wire......strip the insulation back and wrap the new wire round it before soldering.......if you cut the wiring and fail to make a good connection when soldering you could end up with your vehicle cutting out. Any questions PM me Quote

B) Apparently with Diesel prices as they are, you now have to 15000 miles per year to justify a diesel on financial grounds. Quote

karmthims Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 I would be careful about splicing any wires on the car without talking to the dealer. It could upset the electrics all round the car, what you do in one area could upset others. I work in a Citroen dealer and have seen cars wiring that is a complete mess and the customer has ended up paying for the repair and the work done by pals have invalidated the warranty. There are various parameters on the car that can be switched on and off. It may be that you can have these chargers made live by changing some of the settings in the cars ECU's so they don't switch off while the cars engine is off. My advice is speak to your local dealer before changing any of the wiring on the car yourself. Quote
wozza Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 KFK is a dealer tech as well so we generally trust what he says. I know I do. Which is why I asked him first before to get some info on warranty if I got and sound deaden my entire car. Might have occasional arguments with him about silly things but I do trust whatever he says generally plus the fact i honestly wish the tech in my local dealer were as good as him if they were i probably would not have as much problems. Where as mine seem to con me and fob me off with crappy excuses. But hey if people do attempt this modification can you please do Picturres as your doing it so i can compile a little guide to it I have done a guide on how to install an AMP i want a guide on the 9706AG installation next and I may do the VTS spoiler guide in the future as well. Sure they will benefit a good few people rather than spending a small fortune to have citroen fit it. Quote
