Mat Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Now, I'd be the first on here screaming and shouting if something went wrong with my car. So, it's only fair and proper of me to do the same now, but in reverse: Just got my C4 back from Citroen. It went in Monday morning for the airbag recall, and i gave them a shopping list of things i'd like done. Such as, removing the bolt and treating the rust from my roofrack mounts, dodgy seatbelt not recoiling, broken wind deflector, sqeeky brakes, adjust the rear windscreen waterproofing that had was falling out, and replace the drivers door handle after my incident in a multistorey carpark. I also asked if the radio could have the AUX socket enabled so i can plug in a 9706AG. The bolt has been removed, each mounting hole re-tapped, and greased up (something i should have done when i put the roofrack on). The wind deflector has been replaced, as has the entire driver's seatbelt. Appologies were given that the rear windscreen seal cant be replaced yet, but that it isnt a waterproof problem, as water drains off the sill underneath anyway, but when the replacement parts come available, they will call me in. Brand new door handle (which i was charged £12 for, the only charge i had to pay!).Unfortunately the 9706AG hasnt arrived yet, but its on order. They werent sure if my AUX was enabled or not, but have given me photocopies of theie manual, so i should be able to fit it myself anyway, if not they said to pop in (I have a degree in electronic engineering, so i hope i can wire a radio :D ) In summary, i can't say a bad word against Citroen for the work they have done for me. (Although from when i dropped off the car and then picked it up, it had done 4 miles). Quote
Welshguy Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Although from when i dropped off the car and then picked it up, it had done 4 miles Wondered what that sound was I heard...it was the sound of your car popping off the rev limiter..... :D Quote
incubus Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Well how do ya think the Mechanics get their Chips at Dinner time.. :) .... When i first had my Picasso 3 years ago it was booked in for a service..Well when i picked it up later that day it stunk of Chips.. :D I said to the Service manager why does my car smell of Chips..? He replied...ahhhh 1 of the lads used it to get the Chip order down the road... :o His honesty made me laugh rather than be annoyed..I did'nt mind...! but i'm sure 1 of em had a Pickled egg cus it stunk for ages...... ..... Peeves me off a little bit when they adjust everything the seats my mirrors my heater etc. Must remember not to roadtest vehicles where the seat is too far forward or not far enough back......also musnt adjust mirrors or demist windows/turn on aircon to allow a degree of comfort.............It gets a roadtest......it will have its controls adjusted.......the only thing i agree shouldnt be adjusted is the radio......except to turn it off......but then if customers did that when they got out we wouldnt have to do that either. why dont you go get a life and find something worth having a pop about. Mat Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 KFK: Is it standard that a car goes out for a roadtest? I have no problem with this, just curious. Even if it isn't/doesnt, it must be better for the car to do a short drive before going on the ramp, rather than start it, drive it a few metres and then stop it. Stops what i think i recall the RAC man calling 'car wash sindrome'. (When my mum moved her car 1 metre to open the garage door, and then it wouldnt start as it was flooded). Quote
Mat Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 Quite interesting how i post an entire essay about how good my experiencetoday, and the following 3 posts are all in relation to the only single negative (not that it is even negative) point i put in. :D Quote
wozza Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 It went in for an airbag recall and it needs a roadtest afterwards? Also found my sub was left unplugged afterwards thats a little bit annoying since they didnt even need to go into the boot! And i didnt leave the stereo in the car so god knows why they felt the need to unplug it the amps wont powerup without the headunit turned on and i didnt leave it in the car. I think im perfectly allowed to bitch when it goes in for an airbag recall and things get messed about. It takes me long enough to find the perfect position and someone comes along and moves everything. And how did they roadtest the airbag? Although my mum got the worst service her car went in on the friday to get some bodywork done with a full tank of petrol it came out 350 miles on the clock and an empty tank 1 of the tech took her car home and pissed off to scotland with it and came back with a totally knackered stereo. And whats with the insulting? Have I at anyone point ever insulted you do you really feel the need to insult me? For a start I have a life quite a good one in fact. Im 22 i have my own city centre apartment i have a nice new car i have the things i want good friends yep id say my life is fairly good and i have one. If you cant make a point without resorting to personal insults just dont say anything at all and leave it its not hard is it? I've not dealt with you personally you actually sound like you know what your doing. My run ins witht he techs are usually 17 yr olds telling me that metal grating sounds are normal or that my gearbox creaking while going into gear or not letting me select first is normal just something they do. kfk Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 It went in for an airbag recall and it needs a roadtest afterwards? A certain number of vehicles within our dealership will be given a quality control check.....that includes a roadtest. It takes me long enough to find the perfect position and someone comes along and moves everything. If it fusses you that much put a post it note on your steering wheel for the technician to see! wozza Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 I was more annoyed about the sub etc being disconnected to be honest i didnt understand the need for them to do that at all. I actually did ask if that would need touching etc and they said no otherwise i would have taken it apart myself if they needed to sort it as theres a lot of money in that equipment and its set up a specific way and i just dont want people messing with it lol. kfk Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Our technicians are given a strict test route, only two of us there are allowed to deviate from it, and thats because we tend to end up on the motorway or taking vehicles on extended roadtests with the owners permission. I work for a dealer where whilst things arn't perfect (they never are) we do follow procedures and only do things with good reason.........there are lots of dealers that are as good.....some maybe better, and some a lot worse. by all means express your views, but dont expect me to just let them go past without comment. As i said earlier.......were not always perfect. One of our technicians decided to use a customers car to go to the Cash Till, unfortunately for him he was caught by the customer...........we get it wrong sometimes too. Quote
wozza Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Oh I understand that mate its just you know if they do make a mistake it would be nice to get an apology off them or at least say something about they needed to do such and such extra I would not mind then. Just the fact the techs at my local place some of them are great and others are bloody useless. And would rather just fob me off. Few times i have been in and they have been great sorted my car as i wanted it with no problems including replacing a part underwarranty they expected was caused by someone hitting me and i could not thank them enough for putting it through somehow. But othertimes its just hell like taking the car back 3 times to have the seatbelt rattle sorted which still isnt right. Quote

Rob555 Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 My car went to my local Citroen dealers Hidsons of Rainham last week. I must also give them praise for good workmanship, I have found the Service Department team to be very customer friendly and helpful. The mechanics are very skilled and will discuss any problems with the car if you ask them, I only wish that the salesperson could have done me a better deal when I bought the car as I ended up buying it from another dealer perhaps when I replace it I will give them another chance.
