clover Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 I have a french year 2000 Picasso 1.8i16v model with 72000 kms on the clock. Can anyone give me an idea if its time to change the battery or not as I have had two cut-outs since April which are quite frightening. Quote
Johndouglas Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 The time to change a battery is when it's sluggish to start - usually on a cold morning in winter. Battery life is a lottery. In our family fleet we had a new Xantia whoose battery gave up just on three years old. On the other hand, we have a 1998 Saxo still on it's original battery. The 1998 Pug 306 has just had a new one, whilst the 2001 Xsara is still on the original. Quote
clover Posted July 8, 2006 Author Posted July 8, 2006 Thank you for your reply. No sluggish starts here in the mornings when I do have to go our early and we never get it very cold in winter so that wouldn't be a contributing factor. I'll have a word with the garagiste on tuesday when it goes for its contrôle and service and see what he says. It was the thought of having to pay out for a new one right at this time that was worrying as the big utility bills have just come in. Quote
C4VTS Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 The battery in my Audi A4 lasted 8 years. You know when it's failing, because it no longer holds a charge and not enough power in it to operate the starter motor. Usually fails during winter or just after. Quote
