Mat Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 This time, to replace the control block under steering wheel to eliminate chance of the car not starting Quote
Mike5483 Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Who does that affect, everyone??? Ive not heard any stories of non-strating C4's. Quote
C4VTS Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Nothing on the VOSA web site about this 'recall'. Quote
kfk Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Who does that affect, everyone??? Ive not heard any stories of non-strating C4's. doesnt seem to concern too many cars...............its been in existance as a problem for at least the last six months......and yes it will cause a non start........so if you get a letter , dont put it to one side and wait for your service <_> Quote
Stuey Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I did see a lot of 06 plated C4's this morning at the dealers....maybe it is only newer ones. Mine did take a bit longer to fire up yesterday but it was like a second instead of straight away... Quote
Mat Posted July 12, 2006 Author Posted July 12, 2006 Mine's no longer new. And if it doesnt start, i cant call Citroen Assist any more as my year has run out, and i havent sorted out RAC yet. Quote
bigrob Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 had mine on the weekend. must call the dealer to get it booked in... Quote
Stuey Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 what reg is yours Rob?? I will have to have a chat with the dealer when I go and collect mine this afternoon and see if I need to have it done... Quote
wozza Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Funny thing after i said no one had contacted me about my brakes on this forum couple days later someone rang me. wonders if they watch the forum.... Anyways due in on friday to get my brakes sorted will ask about this then and also see if they can sort out my tinkling noise which has come back again. Quote
Stuey Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 we are the biggest C4 forum I could find so they may do... tinkling noise?? Quote
wozza Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Remember my cat bell noise? Its come back apparently was something to do with the exhuast one of the techs had it happen on his own car so will see if he can tell me exactly so I can work out whats wrong. Also getting an occasional knock appearing from the front off side of the car. Guessing possible suspension issue. Will have to find out. Quote
Stuey Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 oh yeah!! mine has the same knocking noise that Welsh's has. That is the gearbox mountings being a bit crap so it is hitting the exhaust....if mine needs the recall I will get them to sort that. Quote
Welshguy Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 So when are you getting the gearbox mountings fixed m8? I'm really interested to find if this fixes the problem. Trouble is I hope the spacers they plan to use on mine wont be fixed to the exhaust...I plan to get an after-market performance exhaust in a week or two  Stay tuned <_< Quote

Mine did take a bit longer to fire up yesterday but it was like a second instead of straight away... Its unlikely to be affecting 06 model cars...........so there is a slight possibility as its the current reg that they have sold some new ones......they dont just come in because there broke!! As far as the problem is concerned, it isnt difficult starting, it isnt takes two turns of the ignition to start..........it just wont start and never will till its fixed (or you pull a couple of fuses). Ciaran2903 Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 When you say: "Performance exhaust" , I hope you dont mean one of those exhausts that looks like a dustbin has been mis placed, and one that you can hear from Australia when the car is at idle! Quote
Stuey Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 quick update on XYJ...it looks like its affecting most of the early cars (up to 55 plates) according to the bloke at Citroen. Goes in next wednesday Quote
Mat Posted July 12, 2006 Author Posted July 12, 2006 Mines booked in for Monday 24th (am on holiday next week) Quote
wozza Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 When you say: "Performance exhaust" , I hope you dont mean one of those exhausts that looks like a dustbin has been mis placed, and one that you can hear from Australia when the car is at idle! No that is a Fart Cannon. best left for nova owners. But most performance exhausts are a bit noisier due to them being less restrictive so your engine performs better more responsive etc. Some people even find there redline goes up slightly. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Oh good, i still would be worried about the noise, considering even the 1.4 is loud! My dad was waiting for me at a golf course the other day, and he was there when i turned up, unusual becauase he has no patience! I later found out that he heard me coming! I was behind someone the other day on a dual carriage way, and we were doing 65-70 and the noise was horrible! I could not live with that! Every time he slightly accelerated, i thought that some one was coming the other way! My mind would never accept the fact that the noise was coming from the car in front accelerating 2mph. Quote
wozza Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 just depends on the exhaust some are rather loud at those speeds some arent. people that just want performance form a car and have stripped out cars etc dont really a give a crap about noise they just want the best power etc. Why some of the sports exhausts are very loud. But they give the best gains in performance. Quote
Mat Posted July 12, 2006 Author Posted July 12, 2006 When i booked mine in, i was asked if my car has foglights or not, as this decides the part they need to order in. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Wo wo wo...hold yer horses :D Before we digress into what gets changed and when we are having the recall work done, can someone digress a bit more about what cars are affected? Petrol, diesel coupe, hatch, all, few, years, or are we still at the speculative stages? I'd like to know if my petrol VTS is gonna need going in to the breakers (read : dealer) again. B) I'll have to contact them about the recall of course. Quote
Welshguy Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I want a performance exhaust yes, but I dont want a nova sound thanks! There is a company in Cardiff called pro-speed, and the guy who works there really is an expert at producing exactly what you want. I've asked for a quote and he's come bk with £268 for a full system. I'm waiting on a quote from him too for a back-box only - not really sure if I need a full system, as its' only a 1.4! I'm wanting pretty much no/little noise on idle/city driving, but gives out a nice note when you open the car up and let all of my 90 odd horses loose! B) Quote
