Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you have had your C3 in for the recall regarding the suspension cups replacement?? The reason is that where I live ( in Iceland ) there has been no recall but quess what, few days ago one of the front coil spring snapped. Fortunately the car was not in use when it happened as there could have been serious damage. Anyway, to me it sounds like this recall that was made in the UK could have avoided the spring to get into contact with the tire as it did on my car. I want to have some more info before I go to the dealer again. They have already replaced the spring ( they only replaced it on one side  ) but they say that there has been no recall made by Citroen. I just want to prove them wrong and get them to act on this matter.

So if you had your car in to fit those new cups, could you tell me how they are different from the original one.

Best regards

I think the cups were made of rubber and the replacements are metal.

The cups are an addition to the assembly, they do not replace an original component.

They are designed to 'catch the spring' in the event of a failure.

Do you know of any pictures of this addition?

I've already sent an email to Citroen France to ask for information about this but there has been no reply yet ( my bet is they'll never reply ). The guys who work for the Citroen dealer here in Iceland say they have never heard of any problems or recalls so it is just a waste of time to get them to find out what was to be fixed by this recall.

Hi Kron

One of my suspension springs failed on September 8th 2006,I have previously had the recall fitted by the dealer, it seems that the warantee has been extended on the springs as I am told it will be fixed under warrantee although my car is over 3 years old.I have not yet got an agreement as to whether both springs are replaced or not.Your dealer is giving you the runaround ask him to sign a document taking full responsibility for any injury resulting from spring failure.

Good luck.
