billynibbles Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Looking at the headlight clusters of my VTS leads me to wonder what you do about modifying the lights for driving on the right. The outer cases are totally clear with no prismatics, so there's no real clue where to put any 'stickers' - or can the lights themselves be redirected? Quote
Johndouglas Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 With Xenons you don't do anything when going abroad. That advice came directly from Citroen UK when I emailed regarding my C5. Quote
billynibbles Posted July 29, 2006 Author Posted July 29, 2006 With Xenons you don't do anything when going abroad. That advice came directly from Citroen UK when I emailed regarding my C5.Thanks for that - presumably, if they're self levelling, they don't need to 'cut-off' to one side to avoid blinding anyone Quote
Johndouglas Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I'm told the beams are 'flat-topped'. Presumably, they don't 'kickup' to the left. Having used them on overnight driving last winter, I was very impressed with Xenons compared with my previous Xantia's masked lights. Quote
lee_marshuk Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 That's a bit odd mate - cos when I asked Citroen UK they said I definitely did need them for my xenons when I went abroad - and Halfords do list seperate deflectors for C4 standards and C4 xenons..... Quote
Johndouglas Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 That's a bit odd mate - cos when I asked Citroen UK they said I definitely did need them for my xenons when I went abroad And you're probably right! I've just been looking at the Eurolites beam bender application list. For my C5 they list a requirement for "standard headlights only" - 2001/2004 position 5, 2004 onwards position 2 , nothing for Xenons. For the C4 - Standard headlights - position 5. Projector/VTS headlights position 4. So I guess all you guys with C4 Xenons do need some form of masks.Eurolites can be found here: http://www.travel-spot.co.uk/products/eurolites.htm but they are on sale in all the ferry shops. Quote
dave&trace Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 we got a letter from citroen uk stating that we do not need beam deflectors for Europe so who is right? Quote
Johndouglas Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 As you say - who is right? There's certainly plenty of conflicting advice. But if xenons on the C5 don't need masks, why should the C4. They're probably the same lamps. I drove overnight to Southern Spain last January in my C5 and I didn't get flashed once, whereas previously, in a Xantia, if the masks weren't right, I was soon told about it. Quote
lee_marshuk Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 now that is odd..they sent it you in writing? Can't believe that Halfords would bother manufacturing something if it were not needed, however....... Quote
Mat Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Can't believe that Halfords would bother manufacturing something if it were not needed, however....... They dont sell it because its needed, they sell it because people think they need it. I bet there are plenty of unnecessary things on sale, not just in Halfords either. Quote

billynibbles Posted August 13, 2006 Author Posted August 13, 2006 Maybe some of the Xenons have a flat cut-off, but having tested mine against a high wall, they definitely DO kick upwards towards the left, so I assume that I will need a deflector or a mask to stop French drivers flashing me. Quote
dave&trace Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 we have a letter from citroen stating we do not need deflectors but we have been to Halfords today and they have deflectors for our car. we are concerned because French police are trageting English cars without deflectors if you haven`t got them will you receive a fine? [here`s my letter from citroen] Also on our last C4 with standard lights we put deflectors on for a fortnights holiday and when we removed them the lights had melted and crazed. luckily the dealer replaced them under warranty but as the VTS ones are a thousand pounds each i don`t think they will stand this again. Stuey Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 surely the english and french cars should have the same lights so if "Le rozzer" wants to pull you over for your lights he should be pulling the french C4's over too?? same goes for reno's and pugs surely...all the kit is the same the steering wheel is just on the otherside...
