Just enquiring about window tints, imo my C4 (as all C4's) would look great with tints.

I know Welshguy has tints, but dont know if any1 else has.

I am not sure who to use, how much to pay ect ect ect.

I know of the 70% law :D , but know that Welshguy managed to get tints darker than that. How did you manage that??? Because there would not really be much point in only getting the back windows tinted because they are sooooo big!

Any info would be great,

thanks

It depends on your level of tints a light tint might not get noticed so much however if you went with a very dark tint you would likely get pulled depends what the police are like around your area.

If you had limo tints on the front and you get pulled the police have the right to give you a nice fine and 3 points now. Recently became something you can get points for. Before you were just told to get them removed and go for an MOT and do a producer at the local station unless they were very dark then you were told to either remove them there and then or leave the car where it is.

But they have changed it so you can now get 3 points for it up to you if you want to risk it some police arent that bad others are.

Well not sure about the back windows but the front windows I believe can no longer be tinted without risking police action. On a personal note when I had mine tinted the guy who did it gave me one of the lighest tints he could do on the the front windows - and I have never been pulled. I think a lot of it has to do with what car you drive, and what you look like.

I.E If you look like a chav and your driving an orion with limo tints, your bound to get 3 points lol

How do they know what you look like, whether you look like a chav or some other respectable description, if you have tinted windows? :D

Cos you can still see me as long as the light is ok. They can see I'm not wearing a baseball cap, and I'm not carrying 4 other people with baseball caps   :o

The thing to be remembered about window tinting is whilst the car may look good, it wont do anything to your street cred if you pull out in front of a motorbike because you couldnt see it coming.

The regulations are there not so much because people cant see you but because it affects what you can see.

Window tints have always been a general No No in my book, dont see the attraction in doing it...

It has always attracted a "oh gawd look at the state of it" reaction from my mates...

Each to their own I guess......"now wheres my Bling....?" :o

it is very depandent on the individual. Well applied, subtle tints look really good and if you go to a reputable fitter such as Pentagon Glass Tech that will actually lower your insurance as the tints they fit are thatcham approved.

Self fit tints are very bad news, i have seen lots of chaved up motors with those with more bubbles than an Aero!! :o

When I was a skint "spew-dent" I used to earn a few bob or two working in Halfords, yeah we all need to work.....please note I didnt take the job seriously...

Talking Epoch 2 - Uniform of Grey Nylon Slacks, Blue Nylon Shirt and clip on tie era-

and we used to sell the tinting kits in the long tubes. Cant remember how many times I used to hear "how mint its gonna look", and couldnt help think "how long you'd be on the drive pushing air bubbles about the windows"..... I heard stories of Irons, Hairdriers, Paint guns, pins etc.....

Being that most "Wayners" came in the store every weekend you got to watch the "wheels" develop into this accesorised heap of shi*e.

Plenty of stories to be told of that place I can assure thee...

So what happens when you get fed up with the C4 (heavens forbid) and want to trade it in at a dealer and they give you the bottom price as it aint bog standard?

Yeah I think Jet-Black tints belong on Limo's only, but I see nothing wrong with light tints - I still have very good visability, and it improves the look of the car. (In my opinion :D )

It has nothing to do with the type of car or the type of person driving it. the fact is that the police resources are stretched to the limit and are targeted by goverment policy. Just because a someone breaks into 200 houses without being caught does not make it right for them to carry on doing it.

Window tints that reduce light transmission by more than 30% are illegal and dangerous.

You don't get 3 points on your licence a Traffic Officer can however issue a PG9 which prohibits you from moving the vehicle further. You then have to remove the tints there and then or have your vehicle removed by a garage (i.e. total lift). When you remove the tints forward of the 'B' Pillar you then take your vehicle and the PG9 form to a MOT testing station, the MOT examiner will inspect your vehicle if he's satisfied he will issue a PG10 form, you must then take the PG10 form to any Police station who will then update the PNC, this will remove the Information Report on the PNC on your Registration number.

If you continue to drive the vehicle after a PG9 has been issued and before the PG10 has been issued you will be arrested.

The penalty for driving a vehicle with a PG9 on it is £1,000 max fine or 6 months imprisonment or both!

Saw one of the police officers on the cliosport site recently say its now been changed you can be given points for it now doesnt usually happen typically just asked for them to be removed but they can give you points apparently.

An MOT Tester cannot issue a pg10. These can only be issued By A Warrant holder working for V.O.S.A .

If a police officer issues a pg9 then it will be an immediate prohibition he may give you a exemption to move the car under certain conditions (driving with the windows open) to a place specified by the owner of the vehicle.

You MUST make an appointment at a V.O.S.A Test station for it to be checked and a pg10 issued. If you do not make an appointment you will be committing an offence to drive the vehicle on the public roads.

A word of warning we can if we feel it is appropriate give the vehicle a FULL examination and if further defects are found vary the terms of the prohibition.
