citroeneddie Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Kfk Why does the C5 1.6Hdi 16v require servicing every 12500 miles and the other C5 diesels every 20000 miles? Thanks Eddie Quote
pork_pie Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 My guess could be is that the other diesels might use fully synthetic oils and the 1.6 uses semi synthetic. I might me wrong however judging from other manufacturers using synthetic oils usually translates in long service intervals (who are fooled into thinking that this actually saves money). Quote
Johndouglas Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 If you consider two of our cars, the C5 and the Xsara, basically the same engine, same recomended oils. The Xsara every 12500, the C5 every 20000. Doesn't seem to make sense. In fact, I oil and filter change them both every 9000. Quote
citroeneddie Posted October 12, 2006 Author Posted October 12, 2006 Picasso 1.6 16v - 12,500 miles or annual service.1.6 16v in other Citroens - 20,000 or 2 yearly service. Usual Citroen logic  Kfk reckons due to different oil. Quote
Johndouglas Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Kfk reckons due to different oil. He's right! I've just been looking at Autodata CD and in my case the C5 needs CF/B1 and the Xsara needs CF/B3. One is synth, the other semi. Quote
citroeneddie Posted October 13, 2006 Author Posted October 13, 2006 But John, the Pic 16v was introduced 12 months ago and still needs an annual service? Have they used an 'old design'? Quote
