My guess could be is that the other diesels might use fully synthetic oils and the 1.6 uses semi synthetic.

 

I might me wrong however judging from other manufacturers using synthetic oils usually translates in long service intervals (who are fooled into thinking that this actually saves money).

If you consider two of our cars, the C5 and the Xsara, basically the same engine, same recomended oils. The Xsara every 12500, the C5 every 20000. Doesn't seem to make sense. In fact, I oil and filter change them both every 9000.

Kfk reckons due to different oil.

He's right! I've just been looking at Autodata CD and in my case the C5 needs CF/B1 and the Xsara needs CF/B3. One is synth, the other semi.
