Hi

For those that may be interested I got my car back from the dealer this afternoon after 2 days in their service dept......

Here breifly is what it went in for and what their reply was.:-

1.Parking assistance Visual display......this is now working and I get both an audible & visual display ...this was fixed with a software update.

2. CD muliplayer malfunctioned every time I leant on the armrest with any pressure...............Parts were ordered and fitted (new armrest brackets) ....this seems to have cured the problem....if it happens again they will send the unit back to the manufacturer.

3.Tyre pressures not monitored warning.....this was fixed by replacing a faulty valve/sender

4 Door mirrors do not move when reverse gear is engaged......according to Citroen technical dept this feature is only available on the leather/elecric seat option and not the standard VTS/leather option.

5. Service light came on every time I used the car.....this was fixed with a software fix...

So all in all I have to give Barclays Motors (Warrington) the thumbs up although I think all of these problems could have been fixed during a comprehensive pdi.

Do we now have a definitive answer on the parking sensor question...probably not....... i think we can say if you own a C4 VTS petrol version you should definately get both an audible and visual display.

Cheers

Have you got parking sensors front and rear?

Some peeps have only got rear sensors......still badged a VTS, they wont have visual warning.

I only have rear sensors but been told it is not in my car spec.

My VTS is no different to any others as far as I can tell.

It was mentioned by someone that my display is not the right display, but I thought all VTS had same display except for Navidrive option, and that is reason for no visual reverse warning display.

Mine has the standard monochrome display..........

It definately gives a display of an outline of the car with lines showing at the rear .........gives a visual representation of the distance between the rear of the car and the obstruction you are about to reverse into.....

It seems some dealers take the car in.... put a disposable seat protector on and a few oily hand prints on the shiny surfaces leave it for an hour and then call you you to say that it's not available on your model....

Does anyone have the number for tyhe Citroen technical helpline if there is such an animal........is this only available to dealers?

VTS/Exclusive are fitted with rear parking sensors with audible and visual warnings as STANDARD. Front sensors are an option.

The indexable passenger mirror is only availble on the hatchback.

Don't waste your time or money phoning Citroen technical because they won't talk to you, they will only talk to the dealers.

Why do we need a software update to enable a function that we pay for when we buy the car.

Because for whatever reason its not working!.......sorry for stating the bleeding obvious.

It is that sort attitude that sums up my experience of citroen customer service.

Having spent what is a lot of money to most of us we expect the functions we have paid for to be working when we take delivery, not have to keep chasing the dealers to get them enabled.

As the point of contact to the customer the technicians should be bringing these problems to the attention of Citroen and making sure the pdi is carried out correctly.

I am starting to wonder if the dealers are making to much profit from the warranty work to care about the problems their customer are having.

Point taken......Yawn..........maybe you should start a thread here that says rant......i'll make a point not to check it!

My comment was tongue in cheek........maybe you need to get out more.

the problem is the sarcasm doesnt translate when written. I think everyone else got the joke but evil missed it...

KFK can only work with what hes got. I cant imagine customers would be very happy if the techs started messing with their cars to try to figure out how things work...let Citroen figure out how to fix things and mention it when you go to the garage next...after all the car is still new to them and all the training in the world wont help if a new problem occurs...

Its not his fault that the brochures are misleading...

From my point of view i dont turn up for work to get agravation every day and i would say that anyone here would say the same. The job is easier if every one is happy.....customers included.

With regard to the equipment fitted to vehicles. As the customer you have by far the greater knowledge of the equipment thats fitted or going to be fitted on your new vehicle. Personally, i look out the window i see a C4, if your lucky I count the doors and wouldnt know from where i'm sitting whether it was petrol or diesel...........in fact i dont care to much for what equipment it should or shouldnt have untill i check to see what computers are fitted and check the database to see what it left the factory with. With regard to "it says so in the brochure", it usually has a disclaimer explaining 'subject to change without notification'......so whilst i check them i also dont take them as gospel when checking equipment.

Quite simply the most common reason for equipment not working is the customer not realising it isnt fitted on their vehicle, and isnt part of the specification.

Why do we need a software update to enable a function that we pay for when we buy the car.

The dealership doesnt write the update, we have no knowledge what some of these updates do. There are times when an update will enable one function and delete another......we cant roll back the update to the previous version, all we can do is wait for another update to resolve it, we cant tell you if an update is available without plugging your car into the diagnostic equipment and checking with the main server, if your software doesnt have the facility to enable a function its probably because it isnt fitted.

As the point of contact to the customer the technicians should be bringing these problems to the attention of Citroen and making sure the pdi is carried out correctly.

We do inform the manufacturer of faults with the product.....How do you think you get fixes & recalls for these problems.....they wouldnt know unless we told them.

I am starting to wonder if the dealers are making to much profit from the warranty work to care about the problems their customer are having.

Personally i would rather spend my time doing things other than warranty work. Warranty repairs can be time consuming and a cost to the dealer.......contrary to popular belief we dont get paid for all of it. In the majority of instances it would be usefull if the customer could show a little interest and provide us with information when asked rather than just dumping keys on the desk and expecting it fixed when they come back.

Whatever you may think about dealers, you do get a choice, you can shop round..............dont assume its just dealers that are difficult to deal with!

Thats why i now always tell them to get in the car with me when i have an issue so i can demonstrate it. They find it harder to say no we didnt see or hear it and gives the service guys a better idea of what to tell the tech guys to check out.

My rant was in the window tint thread.

The problem with the visual display on the rear parking sensors has been mentioned in this forum many times, and it appears that owners are being fobbed off with lame excuses or outright lies.

Some peeps have only got rear sensors......still badged a VTS, they wont have visual warning.
If someone has paid for a VTS then they should not be given a lesser car that has been "badged".

Its not his fault that the brochures are misleading
The brochures are not misleading, the factory is not loading the correct software.

As the customer you have by far the greater knowledge of the equipment thats fitted or going to be fitted on your new vehicle.

Perhaps it should be company policy for us to attend the PDI.

maybe you need to get out more.
I made a point not to get personal Because it may be your customers don't have the problems that some of us are having. But you decided to take a single line from the thread and make fun of it.

i look out the window i see a C4, if your lucky I count the doors
Now what could I have done with that.

Must go i've just heard that that Ikea have just had a delivery of lives and I really need to get one
