ruZZ.il Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Well, I'm new here.. so.. hey, I'm Russ  Proudly driving a 2006 2L dark red c4.so, a couple things I've learnt so far.. and something I'd like to.. 1. anyone trying to hook up an aux in can use pins 4 ,10, and 11 for R, L and ground respectively. I used some mothorboard wiring (the ones for like, the lil speaker and switches..just seperate them with a cutter.. they fit perfectly).. these, naturally, go into the part that actually has pins 4, 10 and 11. they can connect directly to any headphoen jack or mini jack or rca (I have a little rca 'selector'to switch between different sources).. you just need to get citroen to activate "Aux 1". the volume is a bit soft.. so maybe I'll build a lil amp.. belkin has some ipod thing with an amp built in.. hmm.. anyway, that works on my standard blaupunkt RD4 (the basic single cd no mp3 system thatcame in my C4) 2.another thing anyone may want to know is that the seatbelt switches are wired with a little plug under the seats that are easy to find (near the back of the passanger and driver seat) .. just unplugging these leaves the system thinking you're always strapped in. (I like to plug and unplug in the driveway.. so..) 3. the guy at citroen told me that if you save a radio station wile RDS has been dissabled, it'll be dissabled for that station. now, default rds.. can be annoying.. so I'll try see how that works.. he also told me the display and a whole bunch of other stuff work off the radio so removing it in favor of a third part option may be problematic. he advised I keep it connected.. say, run it to the boot or something. does anyone know more about this? I'm considering one of the pioneers that have buit in bluetooth.. and try find their control connecter thats supposedly connects to the C4 steering controns..so, my Q: anyone done any installation that includes keeping all functionality of the display while maintaing steering control support? would be much appreciated. else.. wish me luck :) -Russ. wozza Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 The display runs fine without the standard stereo connected you just loose the stereo info thats it. But you dont really need it after all its all put up on your new stereo unit instead. Steering control support have fun with as far as i know no one has got an adaptor out yet. Been asking Alpine to get me one for a while also asked incartec and a few other places no one has any adaptors yet. Due out in next few months. http://mybigspoon.com/wozza/dash.JPG Theres mine though as you can see the screen is still functional and all i did was chuck the headunit in with an ISO adaptor nothing else. If you have reverse sensor etc these will stop working though as you wont get the audio warning through the pioneer system. Quote
ruZZ.il Posted August 5, 2006 Author Posted August 5, 2006 wozza, thanks. so.. I tested out disconnecting my unit and as you say, display is fully functional. I'm yet to experiment with adding another head-unit. I've been looking at pioneers since they have this: http://www.pioneer.no/no/product_print.jsp...product_id=1533which has the C4 on its chart.. claiming to be a control interface and some support for 'reverse gear' which I'm not sure if that means parking assist.. which isnt a bad thing  I ended up converting a nokia headpiece into a speakerphone through my aux 1 which is pretty nifty.. I'm planning on building a 2 source stereo mixer to replace my input selector though.. and will probably play around with some op amps to boost the aux in a bit.. not sure I got time to mess around with half voltages, etc.. so maybe I'll scrap that and start with moving my amps across and replacing the speakers.. then work on stepping down the head-unit output to line level, combining all 3 sources, and running them to the amps.. and eventually get a new head unit and scrap all the DIY crap.. and.. hmm... try break something else :(anyone else into electronics here?.. Quote
wozza Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 If your replacing the speakers its 17cm components up front. and I think there 17cm in the rear as well not entirely sure yet to take mine out as I just dont have the rear speakers connected ruins stereo imaging. The front door pods are quite good though actual plstic pods to install speakers into with a bit of expanding foam etc you can easily turn them into a sealed enclosure which should help mid bass response a bit. What i plan on doing next time when I sound deaden everything. Amp installation is pretty straight forward rather simple car to run things up did a little guide thats in this section if you have not looked at it already. Standard system doesnt sound half bad and with a high level to low level adaptor wont be much of an issue with you running amps. Into electronics just have not built any of my own stuff really since high school thats the last time I actually made a PCB for my uses anyways othertimes its just breadboards I have used for simple test circuits in uni. But pioneers are good headunits. There speakers and that though im not a fan of but there headunits I like. But I prefer Alpines would always recommend Pioneer and Alpine units to people though. I know Alpine have a C4 adaptor in development cause I have been emailing there dev team but they dont know when its due out. Quote
Mike5483 Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Does anyone actually know how the RD4 gets its signal from the reverse sensors??? Quote
kfk Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Signal comes from the Main BSI unit and is sent to the RD4 unit Quote
Mike5483 Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Do you know which cables the signals are on??? Quote
Guest ruZZistance Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 lol hey look its me again, and I was wondering 'who the heck used my username!?' :( anyway.. any heads up on removing the front door panels? after removing all visable screws, it was still stuck in somewhere.. i didnt want to get to physical, but are there are any clips in specific locations that need popping off or anything?? Ronin Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Like all citroens they will have plastic popper pegs. Yes you can pull them off but you WILL break some of the heads off these pegs and they will never stay secure...Definately something you dont want when fitting I.C.E.(farting sound with bass lol). The pegs themselves have a small straight cut section on the circular heads of them (that fit into the doorcard).Use a long , thin flat head screwdriver to turn the pegs slowly (about quarter of a turn) and the doorcard will slip off with gentle pressure towards you.just repeat to all of them.... How many? I don't know m8 but the AX had about 12 -13 per door card. 3 top, 3 bottom, 2 either side and 2 either side of the door handle usually Once the door card is off you can then gently pry the pegs out of the door frame from behind and re-fit them to the door card. Then when it comes to fitting it back on..... Easy.... just firmly push. hope this helps :( Quote
Guest ruZZistance Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Thanks.. I'll give it a try sometime soon :( I dont remember seeing any pegs that I could turn with a s.drive.. I'll take another look nonetheless.. Quote
wozza Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I have only broken 1 clip and my door pod have been off 4 times now. And I just yanked on them. The clips you can get in your Peugeot or Citroen dealer fairly cheap should you need to replace them...cheaper at Peugeot if I remember correctly. Quote
ruZZ.il Posted September 23, 2007 Author Posted September 23, 2007 I have only broken 1 clip and my door pod have been off 4 times now. And I just yanked on them. I ended up yanking too ;) man, I haven't seen many stock speakers this crap looking before (matches their sound pretty well);) I had some jbls lying around I plopped in in the meantime(which aren't great, but MUCH better). my main goal was to take a look see, for dimensions and stuff. looks deep enough to fit almost anything.. will keep my eyes peeled for some good components now :) cheers.-Russ. Quote
wozza Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 It looks deep but my I had to use a spacer to get my new components in...was a little tricky. As the spacer once put on made it difficult getting the door pods them selves back on. A 30 minute job turned into 3 hours as a result. Quote
