wozza Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Also the diesel VTS does not come with the spoiler as standard only petrol VTS gets it as standard. If you want a fast hatch thats this size you really cant get better than the megane 225 or soon to be 250. Quote
ifigureditout Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 when did i say i would be getting insured on my dads policy? all the quotes i gave were in my own name and i stated they were the reasons i couldnt afford the cars like CTR and 182. i would never commit insurance fraud, as i stated in my original post, i have lost my current car because of an uninsured driver hitting me and trust me, the problems it has left me with are unbeleivable. thats why i view it as a pro for the c4, insurance is at least half the price of a 182 or ctr to insure. as for getting a diesel, i don't want one, the petrol one seems good enough economy for me, some people are diesel, some arent i guess. ifigureditout Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 what insurance group is the meg tho? very nice car. not so sure its as nicer car to be in for long driving tho Quote
wozza Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Why not its big its fairly comfortable handles very well and has a nice 2litre turbo engine good for over 270bhp after a remap. Insurance group 16 or 17 i think as well same as the 182 but dont go off insurance groups best off just getting quotes as i found its cheaper to get insured on some group 20 cars than it is on some group 15 cars. wozza Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 like that rear exhaust on that car. insurance are quite generous if its just a backbox, if it doesnt add performance they wont add too much. they added £16 to my policy for the backbox on my clio and nothing for a pipercross air filter cos it does nothing to the car but makes it sound nice, depends who your insured with though. will be getting a c4 when i have my one yrs no claims i think n its gna cost me about £1750 fully comp on my own name. would cost me £4500 if i got it now lol. might get on my dads name and save even more lol And last sentanced in this is where the insurance comment came from. And just a curious question who are you over at CS? as im on there as well used to own a 1.2 16v changed to my C4 from that. Quote
ifigureditout Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 true plus it looks meaner!!! but a c4 looks really interesting, innovative inside, toss up between amazing performance and the sensible yet stylish option Quote
welshys90 Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 i.e. a cannibal in a bowl of watercress Quote
ifigureditout Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 i'm same username as here but ive only had about 4 posts lol, just its a good resource for clios. ah yeah i see that but dont worry, i want to go on my own name. makes sense in the long run and saves money in the long term too. C4VTRhdi Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Ive heard the Renault (Rubbish) megane 225 handles like a pig. Although i do like its looks shame about the cramped interior. Ps anyone want to buy a megane 225 rear bumper ive got one in my garage lol Quote
wozza Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 well from an ex clio owner i miss the chuckability of my clio but i wouldnt change back to another one i love the feel of having a bigger car now plus the amount of looks it gets when your in traffic etc its great. That and the girls seem to like it as well then again i got told its a pretty colour lol. And everytime you park it up and you walk out to it in a carpark your pretty much guaranteed its gonna be one of the best looking cars in the carpark. Its very comfortable on long drives but when pushed handles well grips well has some lift off oversteer so yes you can get it sideways if you want to. Gadgets are great interior is a nice place to be i just love the car. And the meg 225 handling is amazing unless your hopeless behind the wheel. Standard one isnt amazing but if you spec up the cup upgrades its a seriously good machine handling and performance wise its up there as one of the best fwd cars around. Quote
ifigureditout Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 lol. oh god the meganes thrown into the ring now. so when does it become a 250? Quote
wozza Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Next few months i think. But likely to be expensive at first. Id say book some tests drives and sit in them see which one you prefer i checked out a few cars and took them all for a drive beforei bought my C4. Tried a stilo, astra sport hatch C4 megane etc but i liked the C4 more. Quote
ifigureditout Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 yeah true, might drive 225 prices down a bit and if they cn make it 250 im sure a 225 could be made into a 250 lol Quote
wozza Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Couple places will get the 225 to 280bhp ish but i think thats getting on the limits of what a fwd car should have. Quote
ifigureditout Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 yeah true lol. i think 225 would be plenty for me, god 180 would be tbh. i guess i will have to drive them both, hard to get a testdrive at 18 as people dont think i'm serious about buying one Quote
welshys90 Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 tbh im 17 and 110 is more than enough than me a couple of times in the past 4 days ive thought oh ***oops***! wen ave done something that i could do in my ma mums car (vauxhall meriva lowest class one haha) ive done it cos its wot i normally do in the car and the C4's done something completely different n ave thought holy hell! i reckon if they started like doin so many horse power at a certain age etc like u cant go above 100 horse power till ur 18 then at 18 u can go up 2 150 at the most and then over 21 u can do anything it would keep premiums down and stop someone at 17 passin their test at 9 in the mornin and be drivin a ferrari at lunchtime because lets face it if u had enough money 2 do it it can happen Quote
sammys hdi vts Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 agree with you there, i went from a 1.2 60bhp petrol fiat punto to a 138bhp turbo diesel, got caught out several times at the start with turbo lag, put my foot down to accelerate, nothing, then small brown stains appeared in my pants when the turbo spooled up and the traffic ahead was approaching far too quick! for me i was pleased to have th c4's sharp brakes! Quote
welshys90 Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 yeh i mean near where i live theres a rather large roundabout and in my mums car u could put ur foot down and still keep in the same lane on the inside and nothin much would happen in the c4 tried it the other day just out of habit and the back started 2 pull out a tad n although it woulda corrected itself i shat my pants! Quote
wozza Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 When that happens never lift in the C4 lol. Did that first time back end came hurtling round and i went round the roundabout sideways. Gotta love lift off oversteer makes me grin like an idiot when i do it on purpose. Quote
ifigureditout Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 well dont think a megane 225 is gonna happen, insurance companies dont tend to like 225bhp turbo petrol cars and 18 year olds. c4 c4 c4. it makes sense to me now Quote
welshys90 Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 lol na ma dads best m8s a traffic cop (ano evil man!) and ive bn told countless time if the back comes out dont lift start featherin the clutch and itll bring it back around nicely apparantly. Quote
welshys90 Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 ill like to see me this winter in scotland, drivin on ice practically every road its like tryin to pull the back end out intentionally with the esp off without meanin it its practically drivin on an ice rink Quote
ifigureditout Posted August 13, 2006 Author Posted August 13, 2006 so is there anyone on this site who has a petrol vts that would like to share their views? Quote
C4VTRhdi Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Type C4 vts in google there are loads of reviews from magazines and owners. Quote
Stuey Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 why look at reviews when we have people on here that have had the cars for a while and have lived with them as opposed to a journo who has had the car for a day. most of the owners have nothing majorly bad to say about them. I had one for a couple of days. it is quick and very refined. If you are like me and enjoy destroying other cars off the line you will like the VTS. and as with all C4's you will get constant attention from passers by... Quote
