Guest CE05LDB Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 My brothers C3 is still nearly breaking down every other day but the Garage must have the car when it happens. Well I goy back from Holiday yesterday and my brother said you never guess what. The new key they replaced after the old one broke after only owning his car for 2 days back in Feb has broke again. My Brother put the Key in to Start the car and the Black Remote part snapped off the metal bit. and of course the car won't start without the black bit attached so my brother had to put it all back together with the silver part still stuck in the ignition. luckily he did that and got it started. Citroen are getting worse. Quote
flitwick Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 I take it that he drives the c3 mk2Had a good look round one the oyher week at the motor show shame they all seem to be made on a friday Quote
wozza Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Doesnt it use the same kind of key as the C4? I have ot say mines fairly solid its been dropped thrown about etc and still feels solid. Shame he is suffering so many issues though can he not refuse the car or contact mobility? Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 I have said to him that perhaps its time you give Motability a ring as he have owned the car 6 months and it hasen't had 1 good month at all. I would have had it sent back by now. The other C3 had its faults but my brother said this one has to be the worst. At the end of the day Motability do say to its customers its worry free motoring. Not in my brothers case. He won't take the car far. I won't drive it unless I have to. Quote
wozza Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Tell him to send it back i would. Move up to a C4 or have a look at some of the other similar cars suzuki swift, new punto, clio etc all nice cars. Quote
kfk Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Your garage is right in so far as to fix a problem it would be good if they could experience the problems that its causing the driver. My advice would be that motability are contacted, preferably by letter, and a copy sent to the repairing dealer (probably the supplier). State the problems you have experienced and those that still exist with any additional information that may help them recreate the fault. For example, if the fault only exists after driving 50 miles the garage needs to know they wont get it by driving round the block. Motability will liaise with the dealership and assist in getting the vehicle to your satisfaction. Assuming the vehicle hasnt been converted, motability will do there best to assist with organising replacement transport whilst this work is carried out. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 The car is converted with handcontrols and the dealer thought it was ok for me to give my brother my car as it is also converted while they try and sort his out which in my opinion why should I as its my car. And my brother agreed with me. Motability dosen't do converted courtesy cars which is stupid as alot of their customers has adaptions but there you are. And my brother needs his car every day has he has his prescriptions daily. We will be getting in touch with Motability and see if the car can be replaced as they kept fixing problems on his other C3 and that car got worse not better. If we did have this one replaced I think he might give Peugeot a go. My sisters 206 went like clock work Quote
wozza Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 But its the 207 now and well puegout have not got a great reputation anymore plus would not want a car that new on the market theres bound to be tonnes of teething problems just like the C4 had. And look at 307 owners how many of them have very serious faults. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Been to order a new key for it. Even the dealer said these new keys are crap. Not so bad for the C4 as they have the button in the middle for the guild me home headlamps Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Took my brothers car in for its 20,000 miles service. I told them about a funny rattle when driving it and they said it could be due to a nail in the front tyre if not its the gearbox. So I took it for a new tyre and the noise is still there so looks like its the Gear Box. 3 Citroens now that has had Gear Box faults its annoying. My brother dosen't know yet Im dreading telling him. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 My Brothers C3 is now off the road. The Dealer thought the clutch had gone but whilst taking the gearbox out they found the Gearbox was the cause. A Bearing in the box had broke and oil burnt the clutch out. So it will need a new Sensodrive Gearbox and a new clutch. Won't be having the car back till gone the new year now though. :) Lucky my C3 is a good car. Quote
