kfk Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Sorry was on holiday.......some of you might be glad to know i had to live with a C4 for a week :P ......Interesting. suppose when i get back to work we can book it in for the Hard ride, squeaking suspension, and major flatspot when pulling away ;) Still the economy was good, drove in a sprited fasion round the cotswolds using the Garmin as my co driver!......still got 54 to the gallon. Might add that whilst on my travels i stopped to take a picture of yet another sheep, when i noticed someone in the phone box down the road. As i drew closer i realised there was a C4 with door open next to them. Being the sort of person i am, i stopped and asked if everything was ok. In a very blunt manner i was grunted at and basically told to mind my own business.......so i did......muttering under my breath that i hoped his battery went flat! Otherwise a happy holiday :P Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Presumably you had a 1.6 diesel to get that sort of fuel economy. Mine has had an intermittent fault since having the car which the courtesy car I had also suffered from. Try and pull away quickly, all is well, until suddenly you lose power and then it picks up again. Bearing in mind this has happened on both the 54plate C4 1.6hdis I have driven I presume it is an inherent defect. Not too bad if pulling away from the lights but rather problematic on roundabouts. Otherwise a happy holiday ;) Glad you had a nice holiday! :P But surely the guy's battery in the C4 would'nt go flat due to economy mode? :P On another note, how would you describe a flat spot? I have heard the expression many times, but never have been told what it means.Does it mean there is uneven acceleration? Quote
kfk Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Flat spot: sitting waiting for a gap in the traffic at a roundabout.......the gaps coming.....i'm in gear.......i feel the clutch biting point.......i increase revs.......the gap arrives......i start to move away. And thats exactly what happens......it starts to move away, my foots going down but its not increasing the engine speed.......then just as i'm wishing i'd picked a bigger gap......were off like a bat outa hell (or as quick as 16 hdi)......its not a comfortable feeling and totally unpredictable. If you keep it rolling and avoid stopping at junctions you never have a problem, but if you stop i recon it does it 50% of the time. still when i get to work on monday they can look at it......will let you know what they find. citroeneddie Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Kfk Please let us know when you are on holiday in future- get fed up of waiting for your reply for 24 hrs a day :P Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Ok, i completly understand now, its not really a problem in my 1.4 petrol. Quote
wozza Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 The wonders of turbo lag. Although great fun when they actually come on boost and suddenly just take off. Quote

My car has done this twice to me now recently. Ive pulled away, given it a bootful, it goes then, just feels like it cuts out for a few seconds, and then it charges off into the distance like a bat out of hell. Not nice!!! I would say is there a common factor between engines, but I cant see that there could be. Quote
wozza Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Posted on Sep 3 2006, 04:45 AM wozza, were you just getting up or going to bed. I just got home been out drinking but wasnt that drunk but rather bored so came on comp posted a couple things then went and watched a film (Mallrats ace film!) But if you look you will find a lot of my posts are late at night / morning i dont sleep much. Quote
Z3M Roadster Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Glad I am not the only person to have noticed this. Citroen tell me they can't find anything wrong. It certainly isn't turbo lag as the power suddenly drops while accelerating from a standstill in 1st. Seems to be another problem which Citroen don't have an answer for. Quote
xavtia Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 mine is in at the moment for a flat spot, will let you know if there is any improvement Quote
