Hi

Just purchased a 2nd C5 my my use, its a 2002 HDI 2.0 with 85k miles..

Its never had a cambelt.

Looking at a "Gates kit inc waterpump and was wondering how hard is the change to do. (Any Special Tools Needed )

If I take it to garage what sort of time is job booked at

Thanks

It is about each 10 years or 100000miles

It is easy to do if you are mechanic, the special tools needed are very common

In a garage you have to leave your car for 5 hours or more

In france the belt with the waterpump the cost is about 600€

Autodata lists the job as 4 hours - but water pump and tensioners will add more time.

There aren't any special tools required but you do need a comprehensive tool kit.   If your engine is on 85K and it hasn't any record of a belt change, I would say get it done pronto.
