xantiagreen Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Hi all, First time owning a diesel xantia, bought 2 days ago need advice on grade of oil/brand to go for and anyone tried Valvoline oil, I'm having the lhm replaced filters cleaned, might use FORTE fuel unless its not advised. Bump stops on rear have disappeared don't know if aftermarket polyurethane fancy ones are any better than original? Last MOT advisories were: Both handbrake cables outer casings cracked and Rear suspension levelling valve appears damp? All help appreciated and hopefully this will be only diesel for a long while.. Thanks in advance. Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 A 10/40 multigrade oil to API CD was recommended for Xantia engines. But now there are some reasonably priced better oils so go for a B3 or API CF grade. Good idea to clean the filters and change the LHM. Also it's worthwhile to change the coolant in the system. Regarding the handbrake advisory. Maybe worth changing them before next MOT. Xantia handbrakes are in three cables. One primary cable and two secondary cables which activate each front wheel. Left and right wheels each has it's own handed cable. You'd be looking at £35-£40 for a new pair. Quote
