Hi everyone,

I am a proud owner of a Citroen C5 Estate 1.6 HDI 16v, 2006 model with approximate 36000 miles on her.

I am having an issue with the ESP / ASR system message coming up on my information display, and then the ESP warning light by the clocks staying on after the message is displayed.

The strange thing is that the warning message only comes up at different times, I.E. drive for about 10 miles then it pops up, then leave the car for a while then it might come up within 2 miles of using the vehicle. Then I could use the vehicle again and nothing happens.

Also, sometimes I get a message with the Speed limit is faulty (not sure if this is something to do with the Cruise Control).

I am not sure if both of these faults are linked as they do not seem to happen at the same time, and they happen at different times, or never show up at all.

Well, that's all the information I can give, so I hope someone can shed some light on these issues.

Thanks for any help,

Cheers!

esp = electronic stability program

Asr - traction control

 Youl just be guessing and wasting time and money trying to find this fault on your own as both of these systems just cover so much of the car.

 To go any further you have to put it on lexia diagnostic and go to stored codes  and see what youve got. if the light is going on and off a bog standard code reader wont bring any faults up if the light is off

seen quite a few ecu fried with the cheap lexia from china. But then again some people have no bother with them at all so id rather not say incase anything goes wrong. You can get genuine ones on ebay for £150ish second hand

Just an update....

I have had this checked out and the Comms unit showed up as being the cause of the problem.

The fault has been cleared for now and if it returns I will have to go back to the garage.

The fault hasn't returned for a few days now so hopefully it was just a glitch as the fault was very random when it came up.

Thanks,
