20Dm07 Gearbox Compatability

hi guys, so got a 2001 xsara hdi and has a broke 2nd and 3rd gear. sounds like the syncro are mashed as you can get it in gear but is crunchy, so thinking best way forward is to replace the gearbox,

i have new linkages but looking up the gearbox code, im surprised at the prices, comparing to the other hdi boxes,

 

is there any compatibility to any other 20dm gearboxes? and can some one confirm why i get crunching into up or down the gear, if i change at a low enough revs, or if i double clutch it either dosnt do it or is not as bad. going down from 4th > 3rd > 2nd is worse than going up

and yes the crunching is the syncromesh thats gone. its really not worth trying to swap and change when you can get another box as cheap this link wants £1.99  granted postage is high so just collect
