RealTime Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Hi. I have recently got a C4 from work and I have a couple of questions. Is it possible to ever turn off that annoying beeping when the seatbelt isnt fastened? It beeps for like 2 mins its driving me insane! I wanted to know if its possible to turn off that annoying feature. How do I turn on cruise control? :o Thanks!! Quote
Mike5483 Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 The annoying beep is there to remind you to put your seatbelt on. It can be turned off and the subject has been covered on these forums, but I wont tell you how to do it, you'll have to find it. As for the Cruise, there is a rotary switch on the top left of the steering wheel control hub. Switch it one way to 'Lim' for speed limiter and the otherway to 'Reg' for cruise control Quote

I wanted to know if its possible to turn off that annoying feature. I have never heard the seatbelt warning beep! Oh :P That must be because I always wear it :P Apparantly it is the law :( have you tried wearing the seatbelt? :P :) That should fix it. B) Other than that...You may have a genuine fault. :) Quote
Safety Engineer Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 OUCH !! I can sympathise, driving round site (of the public highway) at 5-10 mph with lots of stop and start it drives me batty. I did find a post describing what the computer controlled but nought on how to turn it off. Would do wonders for my sanity if I could !! Quote
C4VTS Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 I did find a post describing what the computer controlled but nought on how to turn it off. Would do wonders for my sanity if I could !! It was mentioned within the last week, how to disable the belt warning. It's nothing as technical as messing with the computer :( Use the search function and ye will find :) Quote
kfk Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Get a spare seat belt buckle from the local breakers plug it in and away you go....it thinks your seat belts in. Quote

It's nothing as technical as messing with the computer :) Use the search function and ye will find :P I have used the search phrases: "disable seatbelt" "seatbelt" and "belt" and none of the results that came up had that solution. Can you please post a link to that thread? Is it here in the C4 forum? :( Quote
wozza Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Sod it i cant be arsed searching... Put car into reverse warning disabled. If you want it permantently disabled unplug the connectors. the ones in the rear arent too difficult im not sure if the ones in the front are connected to other systems such as the airbags etc. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Why do some people have such a tiff about the seatbelt warning?? :P :( :) Have some common sense and but your damn seatbelt on!! I have driven off the public highway, at low speeds (whilst photographing dears) and i didnt need to wear my seatbelt, but i always do, it is a natural reaction! Just but your seatbelt on! Now, where is this anger management class? :P Just kidding, it just really annoys me that people complain about the seatbelt warning! Quote
sammys hdi vts Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Really grates me when people don't wear their belts! No one goes out in the morning intending to have an accident yet these belts save lifes, not only the wearers but the familys involved as well. I had a friend of mine who rolled his car on the french motorway and nearly decapitated himself if it wasnt for the belt keeping him in place. Also ended up in an accident outside my parents drive, me and my grandad had seatbelts on and had no injueies at all, and the other bloke had smashed his head into the windsceen and ended up with nasty concussion and a bloody nose. He had only been popping down to the shops to get some milk! idiot! rant over Quote

Safety Engineer Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 On road, absolutely and without fail, I've retrieved bodies thrown out of cars - not pretty !! However, on site jumping in and out the car when it's tipping down in the middle of winter it becomes a nuisance especially when there is minimal risk it becomes a pointless exercise. The C4 isn't too bad but some are a high pitched warning and the last two Astras I had used to keep the warning going even when belted up, cue call to lease company - get this damm thing fixed or I'll fix it with a large hammer. ;) Quote
RealTime Posted September 20, 2006 Author Posted September 20, 2006 Its cool that you all mention safety and stuff but in some situations I, prefer not using the seatbelt. Its not like if anyone here tell me how to turn it off, it will be like pushing me off the edge of a 20 stories building.. So I tried again to look for the way to disable it and I couldnt. Can someone say ? Is it too technical? Thanks! Quote

Stuey Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 as Wozza said the best way to get around it is to stick it into reverse and go up to 5mph that should stop it. I seem to recall it remembers after a while though and starts beeping again...It is there for a reason so it wont be an easy shortcut to disable it... Quote
ham's c4vts Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Ear plugs will do the trick otherwise use seatbelt  :P Quote
