peacehavenboy Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Hi ................. Don't know if anybody can throw any light on an ongoing problem i have?I have had my Xsara Picasso 2.0 Hdi 2001 for about 10 years, it has never let me down starting. Then friday before last i jumped in the car after work, turned the key, it turned over and over and didnt fire up?Never had this problem before, no symptoms on the way to work that morning, nothing. We pushed it into the company car park (a truck dealership), one of the top techs put his snap on solus on it found that it threw up a fault code P1517 ecu no key found. We tried the usual trick of reprogramming the key that was used and even that didnt work.So after he had checked every conceivable thing it could be, pump in the tank, is there fuel getting through?, relays, fuses, wiring breaks, we then went down the route of a second hand ecu and a bsi unit with a barrel and key complete with transponder unit (from a donor 2.0 Hdi 52 plate) swapped them over expecting job done, but no, and still the same fault code showing!! I am at my wits end with this now and would welcome any help or advice from anybody that has had a similar situation before. Your help is appreciated. Quote
coastline taxis Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 oooh this is going to be a hard one with not being at the vehicle. Ok when you say that you reprogramed the key do you mean by resycning it by holding the lock button down or actually reprograming it with the 4 digit code. The p1517 is a coded anti start operation which means that the key isnt talking to the imobiliser.Tell the fitter to use the solus and go in via a peugeot 306/406 same year and engine and hell be able to get into the bsi codes that way as all your getting at the minute is the engine ecu codes. He wants to be looking to see if the bsi is comunicating with the com unit.( As i think youve got a comm unit problem as youve changed every thing including the transponder ariel but that goes into the comm unit ) If youve still got the donor car take the comm unit of that and put it on yours as the tranponder ariel relays the code to the bsi via the comm unit.Is it a bosch ecu you have if so did the numbers match and has it got 3 or just 1 multiplug for the ecu Quote
coastline taxis Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Just incase the comm unit is the bit behind the steering wheel that all the stalks go on to Quote
