Dad Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Hi, my daughters Xsara 2.0 hdi Estate (2002) has liquid dripping from under the lefthand side of the dash into the footwell, it feels waxy ! Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is ? Thanks Graham Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 I bet you its the heater matrix. Check the water level in the coolant reservoir. Quote
Dad Posted September 25, 2006 Author Posted September 25, 2006 Thanks John, It's only a very slow drip so doesn't show much in reservoir, although it must be going down slowly. The drip seems to appear when yo go around a corner ? , do you know where and how easy it is to get to the heater matrix ? so that I can check it . Thanks again Graham Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 If it is the matrix, it's a pity it didn't show up whilst the car was still under warranty. Our Xsara started leaking at 14months old, and the matrix was replaced for free. A matrix normally lasts for many years and my opinion is that they had a poor lot delivered at that time. A new matrix is around £40, but if you are not doing the job yourself, it's expensive because the dashboard has to come out. If the leak is small you could try Barsleak in the cooling system. It may stop the drip. Quote
Dad Posted September 26, 2006 Author Posted September 26, 2006 Car was only bought a couple of weeks ago, so it's gone back to dealer to sort out. Thanks for advice Graham Quote
