I have a berlingo 1.9 d van year 2001 started on the button untill a week ago , when I had to prime it to start, ran OK all day starting several times, left overnight same problem.

Had it up on a ramp no obvious leaks, tried the simple thing first changed fuel filter but no change, is there something obvious I'm missing, the high pressure end is all dry and it runs fine once it starts, somewhere air is getting in the fuel line it takes about 20 pumps on the primer then it starts without a problem, next thing is change the fuel line to the tank, unless anyone can suggest something else?

Try some new copper washers on any screw in connectors.   Also if your primer is a rubber squeezy bulb then it might have developed a pin hole.
