strapup Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 HIYA ALL, SPEEDING TICKETS, ANY BODY KNOW WHAT THE FINES ARE/OR POINTS ? BEEN CAUGHT GOING TO WORK 42MPH IN 30MPH ZONE ( MAIN ROAD) BY A MOBILE POLICE CAMERA :D "BEEN CAUGHT SPEEDING IN YOUR" BERLINGO" THAT WILL BE THE JOKE DOWN THE PUB NOW ! :( I HEAR YOU CAN POSSIBLY GET OFF WITH THESE ANYBODY BEEN THERE AND DONE THIS ? ;) Quote
Terry1100 Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 3 points and £80 odd quid (If I remember correctly about the fine) I was also caught by a mobile camera on a 30 mph dual carriageway with barriers both sides and no pavement (nowhere for a pedestrian to be within 50 yards of the road). What muppet gave that a 30 limit. Slightly off topic, I think it's about time we adopted a 130kmh motorway speed limit (call it 85mph) but then enforce it rigidly. At least the motorway/roadworks average speed (SPECS) cameras can't have me when I'm on the bike as they use forward facing ANPR. Since 2000 I haven't had a completely clean licence - despite it being clean for the 20 years before that. By the way, never mind the kudos of being done for speeding in a Blingo - I was once done for speeding at 96mph in a Skoda (and it certainly wasn't a Fabia VRS !) Quote
mr moto Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 :( yep, i got done for the outrageous crime of travelling at all of 81.01 miles per hour on the m6, in a 70mph limit !!! by one of those mobile tax collection vans parked on an overhead bridge.. three lane motorway minimal other traffic early in the morning . 3 points and a £60.00 tax charge :D still i suppose i was lucky considering the number of times i have travelled that same stretch of road on my old gsxr1100 motorbike at ummm, something over 80mph  ;) . moon_monkie Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I got done for 37mph in a 30 limit 3 points and 60 quid and that was on a fixed camera pointing towards me. (not paying attention)... Quote
northman Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I was also caught by a mobile camera on a 30 mph dual carriageway with barriers both sides and no pavement (nowhere for a pedestrian to be within 50 yards of the road). What muppet gave that a 30 limit. Good question - and you have my sympathy. On the A9 between Perth and Inverness there is a contraflow section with a 30 mile limit at the moment. Very straight, very empty, no pedestrians within miles. Not many vehicles doing 30 or anywhere near it. Couldn't figure out why someone decided that it should be 30 mph. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 My mate got caught speeding last year in his C3 1.4HDi Desire. He was doing 85mph in a 70mph. £60 fine and 3 points. Quote
wozza Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 http://www.pepipoo.com Got here theres certain conditions the police have to meet to get you dont on mobile cameras. They MUST wear the bright jackets and the car must be in good view. And a few other things if they didnt do that your ticket cant count as they broke there regulations. If the police are going to break there own rules so can we! Quote
citroeneddie Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I got caught crossing a solid white line in the road 4 years ago while overtaking a tractor just before they became broken lines. It was a straight road and could see for a long distance. Copper said that as there was a layby further down the road, someone could be pulling out. £60 and 3 points. Thanks a lot mate. Quote

Take a look in the highway code and you will see that there is an exemption from the solid white line rule when overtaking agricultural vehicles :P I do believe you have been well and truely done :P Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 There was a crafty speed trap when I was down in Weston Super Mare. There was a white Ford Galaxy parked outside a garage wth the boot open and when I got closer I could see the speed gun and when I came by the side It had Safety Camera Partnership on the side. Sneaky gits. Quote
