Ciaran2903 Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Ok, basically i think that the Citroen C4 looks the dogs danglies standard! But i have this urge to lower my C4, i cant get it out of my head!!! :D What would you guys recommend? i mean: how far? what product? who to use? ride quality? how much of the waranty would it effect? etc etc ect..... Thanks.....Ciaran Quote
ham's c4vts Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 ther should be stuff out now for it but if not then try stuff for the 307 Quote
Stuey Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 cituning have a lowering set for £200 and if you bring it to them they will fit them there and then. The drop is 25mm at the front and 30mm at the rear to level the car out. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted September 26, 2006 Author Posted September 26, 2006 hmmm....... i have the money now!!!Should i do it??? What you guys think??How many mm (estimate) is the VTS lower than standard?? Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted September 26, 2006 Author Posted September 26, 2006 i just looked at the cituning website and i could not find anything for a C4?!? :D Quote
Mike5483 Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 The only things that I think may be affected warrenty wise would be driveshafts, hubs etc, suspension related componenets (or at least, anything they can aim at non OEM suspension). Quote
wozza Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 You can also go as low as 60mm depending on who you go to Spax and eibach have kits out as well now i think. And i think its ultimate that do a full upgrade, dampers etc that are adjustable. Personally speaking i like cars when there on there arse so 60mm to me sounds good. But ride would suffer and ability to get over speedbumps would too. Quote

Ciaran2903 Posted September 26, 2006 Author Posted September 26, 2006 I also like cars like that to look at, but i have to life with this everyday, so would like the best of both worlds in a nice comprimise! Quote
wozza Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Yeah the ride will be bad but it wont be THAT bad. Quote
kfk Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Other things to add to the list of things not covered with suspension lowering: - The gearbox. - Inner wheel arch splash shields - rear light wiring (when the splash shield wears through - the boot carpet It isnt uncommon for me to see vehicles lowered so far that the driveshafts are pointing upwards, the steering was all over the place and chaffing on power steering pipes and the differential was being sandwiched and pushed in all sorts of directions. Personally, i'd say leave it alone, but then i'm biased, i see the bills people pay for their trials and errors. Quote
wozza Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 If its done properly its not normally that bad but some people just dont get it done right. Had mates who have had there cars on 60+mm drops now for over 3 years without a single issue. Couple of them though spent a fortune on Leda Coilovers and got them setup by leda etc. Quote
Welshguy Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 lol I keep repeating this in various threads, but I'll repeat it again  I have my C4 lowered 30mm on Spax (If I remember rightly!) - Pro's... 1. Looks the business2. Handles a lot better...really glides round corners Con's... 1. Bumpy ride...not a lot worse than standard but !2. Doesn't help with steering the car... I have 18's with 225/40 rubber and with a 30mm drop I can still getmy hand under the arches so if you may even want to go lower dependingon what alloys you want? Quote
Rich_Eason Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Ciaran With the potential of penalty points going on your licence, is this just not something else that has the potential to increase your insurance premiums?! I'm with KFK affraid. These kits are lowering kits may appear "great" but they havnt been through the testing that the original C4 suspension has. They may have all the right quality standards and marks but this doesnt make them suited for the vehicle or a good product. You said yourself it looks great standard, so why change it? If you want the look of a VTS...get a VTS. Quote
wozza Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 He has already wrote a 1.4 off he is on his 2nd one now and only just passed his test think his insurance is gonna be mental enough already. And a lowered 1.4 / 1.6 will likely handle better than the VTS. As the VTS only has stiffer springs over the normal car which is what your doing when you upgrade them with lowering springs making it lower and stiffer. Quote
Stuey Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Cituning had mine as a tester for the Eibach springs that they now offer. It did look nice but you will have to have bigger wheels to show the drop off properly. I drove it for about 5 mins and it didnt feel that much different really, the ride was harder and there was more banging in the potholes but as for "overall" feel of the car it was the same. Quote
Stuey Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I didnt have a camera on me unfortunately. I wasnt going to have them put on but they asked if my car would be a test bed for fitting... Quote
C4VTS Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I fitted Eibach springs all round on my old Audi A4. High speed cornering was much improved, and in normal driving you would not really know the difference apart from that the car was lower than standard. I only replaced the originals as I had a couple of broken springs, and car would have failed MOT. Quote
