mmatthej1 Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Hum, I'm rather stumped - I have undone 6 nuts from manifold, which is now somewhat loose (wobbles by hand, small gap visible between head/manifold) but it doesn't want to come any further. I've tapped it at ends & centre of top chamber but don't want to go mad on this, in case the casting breaks - what could be holding it from coming off? Any ideas, please? Quote
mmatthej1 Posted October 16, 2014 Author Posted October 16, 2014 Oh, 1.9TD engine. I'm now wondering if there is a SEVENTH fastening to the manifold - I took off 6 nuts from conventional studs but now see that Haynes manual referes to a hex-head seventh one, in the centre of the middle pair of inlet tubes. Anybody know anything about this? Quote
coastline taxis Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 think youl find its the support bracket thats keeping it on. acsess from the bottom 1 10mm hex on the block and 1 underneath the manifold Quote
mmatthej1 Posted October 16, 2014 Author Posted October 16, 2014 Ah, that sounds quite possible - can't just get a good visual, despite use of torch & mirror, darn it! Quote
coastline taxis Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 10 mm alan key and if memory correct its L shaped bracket inbetween block and the turbo Quote
mmatthej1 Posted October 18, 2014 Author Posted October 18, 2014 Managed to get help from a local mechanic - we found another nut, at base of manifold, but then had quite a job getting enough clearance for removal of loosened manifold. Had to loosen the actual turbo, to allow clearance of manifold to (I think) pop-off valve. Any way, job now done, and my thanks for all advice given - not easy! (PS. Wonder what the actual tubo is, in terms of manufacturer, model, spec? Is it a 'low pressure' turbo, as used on some PSA variants? ) Quote
