jr7552 Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Hello, I'm new to this forum having looked you up as I am in need of advice. Through no fault of my own (though I would say that) my drivers door mirror on my 2002 C5 2 ltr. Deisel has been well and truly broken. I've sourced a replacement through ebay but before it arrives I thought I'd seek advice on any snags I may face or if there are any tips to make the job easier?I have bought the whole unit including the mirror fairing and the 'V' shaped mount that looks like it clips into the door. As I say I'm new here but I did check to see if this had been asked before prior to posting. Beyond that, If I have transgressed any forum etiquette it is unintentional so I hope you'll forgive me and put me straight. Quote
Johndouglas Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Hello & welcome to the forum. If you haven't already done so I would also buy a Haynes manual for your C5. To replace your mirror, the inside door panel needs removing. Haynes gives a blow by blow description for removing the various screws, switches, handles and speakers. Also the switch wiring which needs disconnecting. Then you need a broad bladed tool to leaver off the door panel. Some of the plastic clips may break. There are 7 of them. If you need replacements I think it's part number 6991 S6. Once you get the panel removed you'll be able to see the fixings for the mirror. Quote
jr7552 Posted December 18, 2014 Author Posted December 18, 2014 Thank you for the advice. I have fitted a mirror unit from a breaker. Same colour as my car - must be Christmas ! Anyway the 'new' mirror is set up and working though refitting the door panel has proved a little harder. Quote
Johndouglas Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Good - well done and thank you for returning to tell us the outcome. Quote
