johntom Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 (edited) HiThe car is a 2008 newer shape C5 with a manual gearbox, how do I remove the gear knob and handbrake grip to fit the above ? Title should say 'gaiter' predictive text lol! Edited December 14, 2014 by johntom Quote
Johndouglas Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 I've edited the title for you. The gear knob just pulls off - but don't give yourself a black eye. Quote
tangerinetractor Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Yes, but how does the gaiter clip into the centre console - how do you get the actual gaiter itself out? Quote
Johndouglas Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I believe the gaiter is held by a big spring clip. Try prising from the centre of each side. Quote

Johndouglas Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Just had a look at my C5 which is 2010 model. Use an electrician's screwdriver and go down on the outside of the chrome surround about 12mm from a corner. Push inwards towards the gear stick. Each side is held by four spring clips. Lever up each clip in turn, working your way around. Quote
tangerinetractor Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 ooh. Thanks. Off to the car park now, since the boss isnlt in... Quote
tangerinetractor Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Sorted it. My gaiter had crcked around the top near the gear know where it folds over on itself. So I unclipped the gaiter from the centre console and puled it up over the gear knob. You can then see a cable tie which basically holds it in place in a groove. I removed the cable tie, slid it down a couple of centimetres, and refixed it with a new cable tie... voila, the cracks are now in the hidden bit, and the gaiter looks like new, if slightly tighter. Johndouglas Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 That's good. Providing you can still get the gear easily, it should be OK. Should you want to replace it in the future, the Citroen part number is 7592-XX. (The -XX is an extra two digits depending on colour of the original. Quote
