Drummer1 Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 2007 Mk 2 C5 Exclusive I have the bi-xenon headlights. They're excellent. Very bright and very useful. The sidelights...they're quite dull in comparison. Can the bulbs be easily replaced with LED ones and if so what size/fitment are they? Do they need to be canbus? ThanksChris Quote
Johndouglas Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 My previous C5 was a 2005 Mk2 Exclusive estate and it too had the HID lights. The original sidelights bulbs didn't last long and their replacements didn't either. Although it's been said that bulbs can be replaced from under the bonnet, I never found it possible, so each time the bumper needed to come off. Finally I replaced them with 433C LED bulbs. They were still doing well on the car when I recently parted with it. The only unusual feature was that they stayed lit for a while after switching off. Quote

Then of course one has to do the BSI reset, set windows etc., etc..... Driver's side is easier as you can take off the shield above the hydraulic tank. Quote
MikeLane Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Finally I replaced them with 433C LED bulbs. Hi John - can you just plug these LED bulbs into the holder or do you have to worry about polarity? Quote

Hi John - can you just plug these LED bulbs into the holder or do you have to worry about polarity? They'll only go in one way because they have staggered pins. Not staggered like a 5/21watt rear/brake light bulb, but looking at it end on, the pins are at 10o'clock and two o'clock. Quote
citrophile Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Have changed mine a few times and will be using LEDs next time. I can just about do it from behind the light but the worst bit is getting the buld holder back in the light unit. I have no idea why the bulbs have offset pins. Last few times I have just used "normal" bulbs and filed one pin down so they would fit. Seems to work fine. Quote
