Dear All,

My wife's car seems to have the following problem.

When stationary - say at traffic lights - and the heater fan is blowing (hot or cold setting it doesn't make a difference) there is always a smell of exhaust fumes entering the passenger compartment. I have checked that the air intake (presumably the one from the from of the car above the left hand side of the radiator - when looking at the car from in front of it) appears intack.

We get the smell even when there are no other cars around.

Please advise whether this is a 'quirk' of the Saxo or whether it indicates something that can be sorted out - and if so an idea of the source of the problem would help.

For the records I think it is the base 5 door desire model 'Y' reg.

Thanks in advance of any assistance.

Maybe the gasket in the manifold to pipe is leaking. Easiest way would be to take it to an exhaust centre to be checked. On a long winter journey it could be dangerous.
