cropperg Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Hello everyone. I have just bought a C5 2.0 HDi Exclusive Automatic 6 speed, 2005 (NV55 LHK). It has done 135,000 miles and has patchy non main dealer service history. I have read lots of posts on the forum but none seem to mention my problem. The Problem:- When changing up from 1st to 2nd gear, the gear box seems to slip and then jolts into gear violently, it feels like a kick in the back. It only happens when the car is warmed up, when the car is started from cold there is no problem the gear change is smooth. There are no gearbox warning lights or messages. I bought the automatic as my wife has Arthritis and now struggles to change gears with her left hand. She loves the car it is very comfortable for her to drive. Any advice and guidance would be most welcome. Quote
seefive Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 First thing to try is a fluid change at a main dealer. It will cost around £200, but money well spent if it fixes the problem. Citroen have back pedalled from claiming these boxes are "sealed for life" to recommending fluid changes. It's essential to get the right fluid, so don't cut corners on this. Quote
coastline taxis Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 We had our last auto fluid chang at town center citroen about a year ago £90 it cost you more to buy the fluid so its a no brainer. that box done 300k before we took it off the road. It had the auto fluid changed every 80k. Dont be tempted to do it yourself as its not straight forward and requires diagnostic equipment to get the oil to the right temperature Quote
cropperg Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 Thank you for your advice, I will phone around local Citroen dealers for the best quote. I will let you know how I get on. Thanks again. Gary Quote
