MattyClegg Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Somebody told me that there's a way to connect jump leads under the bonnet rather than going under the passenger seat to the battery. Is this true and if so how do I do it? Would come in handy for the future. Quote
Johndouglas Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Make sure the vehicles are not in contact with each other. Don't allow the clamps to touch each other. Put the positive cable to the positive terminal of the flat battery first. Then attach the other end of the positive cable to the good battery. Attach the negative cable to the negative terminal of the good battery. Then attach the other end of the negative cable to the engine block. Not to the negative terminal of the dead battery. Once the engine is started, let it run for a few minutes then carefully remove the cables in reverse order, again not allowing the clamps to touch. Make sure you connect to the ENGINE BLOCK – not to thin metal - it will quickly overheat Quote
MattyClegg Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Thanks for the reply John. I can understand this procedure, but is there a terminal under the bonnet of the picasso that I can use instead of having to pull the front seat forward, lifting Teheran seat, removing the plastic battery cover, then connecting the leads. It's a total ball ache when you're late for work and have to do all this to get to the battery. The battery is ok at the minute but in future I'd rather have an easy option to start the car in a hurry. Quote
Johndouglas Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Go under the bonnet on the right hand side. Look behind the air filter and there's a cover marked with + & -. Remove the cover and connect to the terminals. Don't mix up the pos. with the neg otherwise you'll do great damage. Quote
