Yanthedad Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Hi, I pick up my C8 on Friday and I'm very happy with a basic LX petrol I'm going to get. The only thing I'd like to add to the car is some roof bars ... I can see some on ebay but WILL THEY FIT on the LX roof ? ( I think they came on exclusive models only ?) I looked at the roof today and the grooves have a rubber trim in at present but I wonder if these can be removed and roof bars added ?? Any advice welcome :-) ... And any other easy and cheap upgrade advice would be great thanks Yanthedad (Chris) Quote
coastline taxis Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 all models are the same (just different spec levels) so the roof rack will fit. As for upgrades I think you'll get a surprise at what you get even on the lx level. what year is the c8 Quote
Yanthedad Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 Thanks for your wisdom ! :-) - the roof bars fitting is great - I guess I'll need the confidence to fit them though - are there any garages or C8 enthusiasts that could help in the Manchester area ? I guess if I buy some roof bars on ebay I could just wrip off the rubber that's currently in the grooves on top of the car ... Would be good to team up with someone who knows what they are doing - this is my first C8 but I think the first of many - I love them ! Any examples of how to customise a C8 cheaply would also be great - I'd be keen on privacy, sun blinds and and styling tricks to make it a tad more stylish ... Quote
Mike M. Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 On this subject, I also have been thinking about fitting roof bars (or spoiler?) to my 2006 C8 LX, but the more I look into it the more confused I become and so would really welcome some clear advice. Firstly, is there a choice of roofbars or a spoiler, or is what I think is a spoiler actually two roofbars fitted together? Secondly, there is mention of a T track. Do all C8's have this fitted under the long rubber strips or do I need to buy and retro fit? I have tried to look under the rubber strip but it is a tight fit and I'm reluctant to use much force in case I can't get it back into place. Thanks. Mike M. Quote
Richiejh Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 Not sure if anybody is still following this post but I retrofitted the roof bars last year. The rubber trims have to be gently unclipped, the clips are bolted into the roof. All of these bolts have to come out then you have to bolt the T track in the groove using the bolt holes (don't forget sealant on the roof as the bolt holes go right through to the roof lining) then the roof bars clip into the runners with stops in the ends of the T track. When I did mine I had no instructions or guides and it took me 1-2 hours, I bought the whole kit from eBay. Quote
