ifigureditout Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 well after a while of looking around and various insurance qoutes ive decided i want a petrol c4 vts. Now i would want to buy used but the petrol vts's are rare enough used let alone one thats black, has jbl, leather, panoramic sunroof and sat nav lol. My question is how much bargaining is there to be done. i realise they are giving silly amounts of cashback but what are the chances of getting extras in for free. now i realise their not going to throw in sat nav or the leather for free but what about things like jbl? or are they non negotiable. i have no problem with the price as there is no other car on the market that spec'd for tat price but i might as well try and get the best price i can. p.s if you know of a black vts with jbl, sat nav, leather and panoramic sunroof give me a shout lol Quote
Stuey Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 ALWAYS negotiate...I got my spoiler fitted for free and half a tank of petrol and that was on an 11K VTR so if you are going for a 18K VTS you should have more give me that for free power and if you have a couple of dealers near you play them off against each other Quote
wozza Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 You can get VTS's new from £15k with a few upgrades so just haggle a lot if there not gonna give it to just walk away. Wont be too difficult to find someone that will match there prices. Quote
C4VTS Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I don't think you will get much off the price of a used VTS at a dealer, but some dealers have special offer weekend deals so is worth watching out for. It really depends on how much commission the salesman wants to give up, and it's usually best to buy at the end of the month just before the end of month sales targets. I used Carsource to find my used C4. There does not seem to be many used VTS on offer at the moment, probably because they are becoming more sought after :D Quote
wozza Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Been thinking this through myself. Decided im gonna wait till next years facelift model comes out and been around for a few months. want to see whats new with that one. And if it looks better has any other improvements engine wise etc. Quote

wozza Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Not entirely sure know the VTS could possibly be getting a 1.6 turbo lump putting out around 170 - 200bhp though. Which due to lighter engine etc should make it a bit quicker. Unsure of gearboxes etc. Can expect some styling cues to be taken from the C4 picasso more than likely. Just want to see what its going to be like first if it gets the picasso style interior would be nice. Quote
ifigureditout Posted October 16, 2006 Author Posted October 16, 2006 i have to say the dash in that c4 picasso looks amazing. that would look really good inside the c4. when is the facelift coming out? might be worth sticking with the clio till next year then. cheaper insurance in february too as i will have a years no claims Quote
wozza Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Not sure t obe honest when there coming out. Just seen on various websites there expected in 07. With the Coupe Cabrio following in 08 (if they build it). Id stick with the clio a little longer to be honest and then buy a C4 even if you dont go for the new model the VTS's will drop and likely more will come on the market due to the newer version. Quote
ifigureditout Posted October 16, 2006 Author Posted October 16, 2006 yeah probably worth the wait although its hard to be patient as i really want one! could look at a decent citroen finance scheme so it would be easy to replace the c4 with another after a certain amount of time. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 We managed to bargain a grand of the screen price of our used VTS. To do that though they had to give me more than they wanted for the trade in Focus. Took some doing and was quite content to walk away as there are a few dotted about. If you look on the Citroen site you can search for specfic models in specific areas. If the engine is going to be the same as the engine in the new 207 GT/ GTI its not getting raved reviews. Each to their own and what they make of the write ups.... We were offered a brand new VTS at £14,500 but the depretiation factors and the savings we were making on the used VTS we were better off getting the used one. Quote
hertsnminds Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I used this site to get a price to bargain fromhttp://www.newcitroendeals.co.uk/citroen_c4.html Petrol VTS are £13,225 and all cars are supplied through UK Citroen dealers. The only reason I actually went to a dealer in the end was the fact they did a trade in and the website could not. The Citroen dealer also gave me 3 years 0% and the website could not. lab44 Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Although the site now says they are doing 0% finance and min £1000 p/x on certain models :) You should easily be able to get a decent discount from a Citroen dealer anyway - just always be prepared to walk away - at the end of the day theres always another dealer. Welshguy Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 There was a guy over in the Citroen Xsara forums who had a VTS in black with the JBL pack and other extra's (tints& exhaust) with only 6k on the clock...it was garaged and kept in immaculate condition. It was 18k brand new and he wanted 11.5k. He had no offers for a few months so he was eventually forced to take 9.5k for it !!! 6,000 miles and he'd lost half the value of the car!!! I was soo tempted but ultimately couldn't afford the insurance. That doesn't really help you though does it? :) Sorry I suppose the above could be considered teasing! ;) Quote
Rich_Eason Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 In theroy though he perhaps should have paid such a high price for it in the first place. At that price it is basically RRP which is daft to pay on any car. There is always room for improvement i.e. downwards, especially with Citroen. Unfortunatly by offering such great deals it also encourages high depretiation over the first few years. That is one reason why we didnt buy new as the cost of buying new and the depretiation out weighed the cost of actually buying the used car and for the amount we use it and intend to keep it, it wouldnt make sense. And the sake of a years milage its no skin off my nose, it still smelt like a new car inside :) Quote
Welshguy Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Found the Link to the VTS that was for sale - jealous people with money to spend - dont click HERE ! Quote
Rich_Eason Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Without wandering off topic too much Its got a K&N 57i induction kit...whats the deal with these? Any good just out of curiosity? Quote
wozza Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Means you dont have to replace the filter come service time, However depends on the car there in not really any performance increase just better response and a nice induction growl. In small cramped engine bays they can causeyou to loose power though. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Ah right sounds like a gimick to me.... Quote
Stuey Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I think Ham has one on his...I keep meaning to have a look for one... Quote
ham's c4vts Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 no Stu, ive just got a K&N replacement filter in mine. had induction kit on my xsara but wasnt impressed, nice sound though!if i were to get another it would be one of those viper things that are sealed, so no hot engine bay air gets in Quote
ham's c4vts Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Found the Link to the VTS that was for sale - jealous people with money to spend - dont click HERE ! its gone now Quote
ifigureditout Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 that vts that was for sale was perfect! very nice. i dont think its a car people can moan about buying new too much. their offering some great deals and to be honest the depreciation doesnt bother me because if i buy one its going to be for a good few years as i love the design Quote
wozza Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Ah right sounds like a gimick to me.... Depends on the engine really on some engines they give benefits on others they dont. It mainly works out cheaper at services though since the filter doesnt need to be replaced just clean it. And gives a nice noise. You usually notice an increase in throttle response and can gain HP and TQ on some engines on others as i said you loose power. Some of the bigger turb cars that just need air putting in as quickly as possible can gain 10+hp. Quote
