Hello

I started noticing a problem with noise while at idle, over and under revving at idle but also that the car stopped feeling as smooth to drive and seemed to lose power and also seems to be drinking petrol like crazy, then my clutch started to feel a little grinding when pressing down, then more noise and finally my clutch vibrates and also makes noise when pressed, the car isn't running smoothly now and there are also some other metal noises, this all happened over the space of only one week,i have had the car for 2 months 78000 on the clock. From what i have been reading,it all points to the flywheel or dual mass flywheel and others advise getting a flywheel and clutch kit however .. i can't find a single seller of a flywheel for my car,i try searching dual mass or just flywheel,i put in my reg and all that ever comes up on the 4 main sites i have used is a clutch kit,no flywheel ever.

This is my car, from all the issues i have had over the week,it really sounds like the flywheel but as there is only a clutch kit, what does this mean ? does the clutch kit include the flywheel ? i am sorry as i am not very car savy

Citroen ( 2004)
C5 1.8 vtr

this is all i can ever find,no results for flywheel or dual mass flywheel

Not all the early C5s had DMFs. Very likely yours is one of them. Unless you are going to attempt to replace the clutch yourself, I would not go buying the parts. If you are not doing it yourself - and it's a difficult job, requiring specialist tools - have your car looked at by a garage and let them have the responsibility of getting the correct kit.

Hi, iv'e replaced 3 clutches and flywheels on c5's all been diesels all 2005 and all had a dmf fitted, when they go they make a lot of vibration and rattles on tickover however when you get them going you can't really tell it's got a bad flywheel(in my experience anyway) eventually however it gets to a point where you have difficulty engaging gears then it needs to be done.

Instead of doing a search for a flywheel for your car i did a search for a clutch, out of 50 hits all the clutches had centre springs in them which usually means a solid flywheel is fitted, whereas with a dmf the springs are in the flywheel and not in the clutch.

It could be the release bearing has callapsed,so probabley you won't know till it's stripped down.
