fallingoverdrunk Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Hey all Newbie here and new to the C5 too I recently got my hands on a '01 C5 2.0 HDi. Enjoying the experience, but having a few niggly problems. Would really welcome some advice/suggested solutions. 1. Vibration through the steering wheel....lasts 2-3 secs builds up and then falls away...stops for a couple of secs and starts up again. Have had wheels balanced but this hasnt sorted the problem...gets worse with speed. After wheels, thought it might be shocks, but have heard that C5 hasnt got shocks.......any suggestions pls ? A warped wheel perhaps ? 2. Headlights flicker3. Sentral locking works variably4. Car pitches a LOT in cornering5. Roof aeriel has siezed completely...this will need replacing...can i get a this through the rear interior light? Thanks All Quote
kfk Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 1a, worth providing your chassis number to you local dealer and asking if your vehicle was subject to a recall to have its wheels replaced. This assumes that your wheels are equiped with hub caps. 1b, If you have alloy wheels, do they have a centre hole?......a lot of garages are unable or have difficulty balancing them.....try a different garage. 1c, sometimes the hole in the centre of the wheel and the wheel hub are of different sizes causing the wheel not to sit central on the hub......if your wheels arnt fitted with tappered wheel bolts obtain 4 bolts to allow you to centralise the wheel before removing them one at a time and using the flat seat bolts (do not use tapered bolts to run the vehicle unless the wheel has a tapered hole) 1d, try swopping wheels front to rear. 1e, remount the tyres on the wheels in a different position 2, Headlights flicker.....Standard, its the suspension pump cutting in. 3, central locking motors tend to fail, especialy on rear door, ussually jamming shut. 4, car pitches a lot on cornering?......might be worh getting spheres checked. 5, yes you can Quote
