chowwie Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 hi alljust bought a xsara 2.0 hdi w reg i have always liked these cars and thought i would buy onethe only think that has dissapointed me so far is that i dont think its all that responsive to say its 2.0hdi! is there any adjustments that can be made to make it a bit more responsivei think its totally standard in the engine i know on some td,s you can turn turbo in earlier or boost etc but is this possible with a hdi? cheers all Quote
Johndouglas Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 The engine fitted in your Xsara will be the 90BHP and it will be missing an intercooler. However it should still be lively. Make sure the air cleaner is newish and give the injectors a clean with some Dieselclean or Redex. Quote
chowwie Posted October 22, 2006 Author Posted October 22, 2006 many thanks for the info can an intercooler be fitted easiely and how much bhp will it give? i have checked filter today and looks fine i will get some injector cleaner tomorrow to see if that does anything thanks again all Quote
nick74 Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 It's certainly possible to fit an intercooler to the HDi 90, but arguably more trouble than its worth. The easiest way to tune an HDi is to get one of these; Diesel tuning been very tempted to get one for my Xsara  One other thing worth looking at is to make sure the throttle cable isn't too slack, the one on my car was & was preventing it going above about 3000 rpm. wozza Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Or you can get the car professionally remapped which will give better results and is the same price or less. Mix that with an intercooler and you get better results then again as the map will be designed for the intercooler being there too. Quote
nick74 Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Yep, been considering that too. Not so easy for insurance companies to detect either! Quote
