I have owned Citroen C-5's for the last 13 years and found these to be very reliable cars with well over 200,000 miles on the previous one with very few problems.

I bought a 2009 2.2 Exclusive approximately 10 months ago during the test drive the warning light for the suspension came on and I was assured by the garage that this would all be fixed, the car would be Mot'd serviced etc prior to me getting the car.

On picking it up the same lights and warning for height sensors appeared on the screen along with tyre pressure lights book this back into to be repaired at the Citroen garage and the smooth and comfortable ride that I had with the previous car is certainly not there.

The ride in the car seams very unstable, it floats when driving and when the road is slightly uneven it effectively wallows from side to side as if there is no suspension to the point that I have to slow down and when driving over speed bumps it feels like there is not suspension on the car

The car has now been in 8 times over the last 10 months and on getting the car back this time the suspension seems much harder but the wallowing handling etc is still very apparent.

Over the numerous times the car has been in to get this issue fixed I have been told that spacers were fitted and the Sphere's have been replaced along with the ride height sensors.

I keep being told by Citroen that all Citroens with this type of suspension are like this but beg to differ based on my previous car and that fact that friends have the same car and these are not the same as my own

At my wits end with this and looking for any input or help on this matter as it appears to me that Citroen cant fix this on going issue even with the help of there head quarters in France. Which disappoints me as otherwise I like the C-5

Anything appreciated and received with thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum.

ok theyve replaced the ride hieght sensors and the spheres and its made no difference. Do you no if its had a steering rack leak and been replaced also does the steering feel ok. The reason im asking is because weve had 2 mk3.s in were the rack has been leaking (and yours is the right age for the rack leaks) and theyve had racks replaced by people who dont no citroens and they then top up the power steering with normal p/s/fluid and not lds fluid which then contaminates the suspension system and results in the suspension floating all over the place and pretty scary when turning a corner

Hi

Thank you for the words of welcome, response, feed back and information its greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you have had a few bad experiences and certainly sounds scary.

As far as I am aware the steering has not been touched that said upon taking the car back for another test drive to be told again there was nothing wrong with it I went to another Citroen garage as requested for a second opinion.

Now follows the scary and concerning part over the last year and numerous visits to the local Citroen garage and as above being told time and time again that the suspension was okay, at the other garage within a few 100 yards the Master Tech's expression said it all after the full test drive he said the suspension was definitely not right, describing exactly the as I have been relaying for over a year and agreed that no Citroens with this suspension are not all like the one I have (This was without doubt reassuring).

So back the local garage to see what the response is to this on going to be on this issue but after a year as you can appreciate my patience and faith has run out that they can repair it.

I would just prefer the car be replaced as my confidence that this will be reliable and nothing more that a costly bill in the future is low to say the least

Comparing it with my previous and extremely reliable car it has been disappointing although more the service than the car

Thank you again for taking the time to reply it was appreciated
