C4VTS Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 "but you can accidentally switch radio stations if you don't strictly adhere to the ten to two position for your hands on the wheel." I don't see how anyone could accidentally change radio stations? Quote
philstott1983 Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 am i on my own, not adhearing to a lot of things taught by your driving instruction?! Plus I dont drive with my thumbs floating around, I use them to grip the steering wheel so no matter where your hands grip, it isnt possible to alter the stereo controls. Quote
wozza Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I just put my thumbs on the little thumb wrest things on the side of the wheel keeps my hands in a better position to control the car and in case of an accident im not gonna instinctively grip my hands round the wheel thus making my rather nice meeting with an airbag even worse. As you just pull yourself into it more where as if your hands are wresting the airbag pushes them away with minimal burns and you get a ever so slightly softer landing which sounds good to me when an explosive bag is going off in my face if it ever were to happen. Cant see how you can hit buttons without trying though. I have to make a conscious effort to use them. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 maybe he was a 6 fingered banjo player, and Wozza was you talking from experiance? :P Quote
wozza Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 No not speaking from experiance just something i read about accidents. My mate is also a doctor and enjoys telling me about the wonderful things that happens to road traffic accident victims. Like the guy riding a bike a few weeks agot hey picked up they turned up thought it was a few people that had been involved in an accident. Found it was 1 person he was just spread over a wide area. My mates a bit sick when he was at med school and we went out for a drink after he seemed rather gleeful that he got to chop a dead persons head off.....It worries me that he is in medicine now lol. Rich_Eason Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I think you have to have that mentality to get over the things you witness. My mate who is a fireman is at the other end of the coal face and deserves a huge amount of respect....more so now they get stuff thrown at the Fire Engines by local scum and crud... Quote
