Evening Eddie,

No problems with C1, Engine and gearbox are toyota, reliable to date.

Economical, need to rev'em a bit to get a shift on and sound a bit wierd.

Only complaint i have had: when you open the tailgate in the rain, the water runs down towards the roof, misses the gutter & fills the parcel shelf.....a bit like owning an early C5 :) . But seriously, its the only problem other than people thinking there running on 3 cylinders!

Thanks Kfk.

I have driven one and went back to garage and said there was a hole in the exhaust , doh :)

A C2 is also a good choice with 2 yearly servicing, but as this will be her first car, the lower insurance, economy, and road tax makes sense.

I can feel my wallet groaning..........

I've just bought a C1 and am absolutely delighted with it. It is lovely to drive, easy to park and economical to run + super to look at!

My son will be learning to drive on it and as it's Group 1 insurance it makes it much cheaper to insure.

I'd have no hesitation s in recommending it.

Suppose it might be a good time for me to make a reques to the one of the admins to sort a C1 section out.

As an edit to this i have asked for a C1 section and a couple other bits to be added however the admin has not visited the site since 5th of october so we may be in for a wait. But i thought since people are buying them now as 2nd cars etc be nice for you to have your own forum.

In my opinion the C1 is a fantastic car. We bought ours as a second car for my wife to get to work in. It turns out I have ended up driving it everyday even though I travel much further my wife drives the C4. I do about 50 miles a day and only need to fill up twice a month which is very good.

I had a 1.0l today as a courtesy car while my C4 is being mended. I was convinced it had a blown exhaust.

The switches feel like they have a MTBF of about 30 switches.

It feels like there is nothing between your feet and the engine, as if there is no soundproofing at all.

And the fuel guage went from 3 bars to flashing 1 bar, completely missing out 2 bars.

I hope i get a different courtesy car next week!

we had one back last week with a rusty rear silencer. only fault i've ever come across with them. apart from 3 points and a £60 fine after using one of our courtesy c1's. we've had a couple back with noisy exhausts but thats the way they are.

Part of the whole cheapness about them. There not supposed to be well made and exhaust is a known thing from what im aware of. Still would not want to go back to small car like that again after having the comfort of the C4.

I agree Wozza, once in a bigger car difficut to go back.

Great as a first car and the secret is to go for basic if you are in the market for a cheap new car.

Just picked up the C1 yesterday, talk about seat of your pants stuff

It's like a roller skate with four wheels.

Very, very nippy.

Windy windows and no central locking.

£99 deposit and £99 a month.Fantastic!

The engine has Toyota stamped on it as we knew, can't be bad eh?

When I had my C1 Courtesy Car, I called it 'The Rollerskate'!!!

It is just like one though, and I agree, very nippy for such a small engine. Really enjoyed the time I had with it, never failed to put a smile on my face and I thought it was really well built. No rattles, creaks or squeaks. I suppose there is nothing to rattle though!!!

I have now got one of these as a courtesy car. My verdict.

I WANT MY C4 BACK!!!!!

I cant get comfortable in the thing. Its too bleeding small.

Suffice to say on my trip to wales later today im taking the Chevy.

My dad took delivery of an AYGO Petrol with MMT through my recommendation back in October.

I told him he needed to save money and if he really needed a second car let it be one that does the job. No questions asked.

He is starting to like it. He complained it was far too basic at first. Yes it is......

Mum absolutely adores it.

I think its a really nice car - I believe it could be a shade cheaper though. With optional air con/met paint and that wacky gearbox tipped the £9k scale. Bit of a growl to the 3 cylinder engine. Bit underpowered - no rev counter makes drivability a bit tough.

Hey you don't buy them for pace.

A very sensible car if ever there was one.

The only gripe was availability of colours. We wanted one in light blue and would have to wait 4 months so we had to get a dark grey one and negotiated £750 off as a result. Fair enough.

I think wozza would have preferred the diesel version.

How do mate?!

Hi all,

I drove a mates C4 the other day, what a pile of crap, small and cheap feeling with a slow engine,i don't know why people buy them not as good as my BMW 760Li...............................................................

Get my point

Posted

They are not bad(i don't actually own one)the diesels storm.I was just trying to make a point.you carn't compare a C4(and you call BM's ugly????) to a C1,you have to compare apples with apples.

I drive 60 miles aday in mine and it does its job just fine,i am 100% happy with my choice.Shure it is abit basic and has a few rattles, but hey IT'S A CHEAP CAR!!!!

I was annoyed on the day i made the post mainly because i had booked a car C4 size so said i should be getting a picasso as they had only C1's apart form the Picasso get there and there was no picasso i was given a C1 to which i then said to the guy and how do I get a wheelchair in that? My mum is currently in a wheelchair and was taking her down to wales bit difficult to get a wheelchair in a C1.

And im a big guy as most who have met me on here will know. Getting me in a C1 was not comfortable. And trying to get a mate who is 6"5 into it proved rather difficult.

Not the kind of car that was suitable for my needs basically way to small and cramped.

It was a little basic as well but that was not so bad no different to my old Clio. But my Clio was so much better handling wise, engine wise even price wise you can get Clio's so cheap now. I loved my Clio could not like the C1. Was also just more comfortable my Clio.

I had it for 4 days I think it was and in the end it just sat on the drive and I took one of the other cars out instead or got someone else to drive.

And BMW's modern ones have lost everything cool about them. They have not made a good looking car in years. They perform well but unless its got an M badge on it there typically dull to drive.
