Hi I don't know much about cars so really hoping for some help :/ my battery died and despite charging it the car won't start as the imobiliser light is now on.

I've rang an autoelectrician who said the key will need recoding and this will cost £160 which I don't have on me right now - in stuck out in the middle of a field ready to home from camping! (Well I was).

I have the manual with me which offers no advice on this. I do have a card that has a pic of a key on but no idea what it is or if it would be useful right now? It says on the back 'keep this card safe but not in the veichle and for further information on its use to refer to owners handbook (but I can't seem to find anything about it in the book)...

Any help or advice would be appreciated :)

the card has a scratch panel on it remove it and it has your key code. Its very unusual for a key to need recoding  Look in the forums for a bsi reset and do that b4 letting anyone touch the car. make sure the battery is fully charged and all leads are on the battery. Also try the spare key if u have one

Hi, thanks for your reply. We have tried the bsi reset but it hasn't worked :( the display is saying the car is in echo mode - have looked at the handbook and it says this can be resolved by starting the car - but I can't start it as the imobiliser light is still on and is stopping it from starting...
