The radio reception on my Citroen Relay campervan seemed to have deteriorated on our last trip. I saw a suggestion that moving the aerial to a more upright position often helped. so I pulled the aerial away from the roof and it broke of from the mounting quite easily!! It is now dangling over the windscreen like an extra wiper, with what I can only imagine, is the coax lead preventing it from falling off completely. I think I have found the source of my dodgy reception!

I have removed the roof lining in the cab and the courtesy light fitting, but I still cannot figure out how to remove the aerial assembly? Wiggling a finger around in the roof space, I can feel a nut which must hold the aerial base in place, but there is no chance of getting a socket or spanner on to it, to remove the old aerial fitting. Is it a captive nut? Looking on line, the Relay aerial base seems to be 'keyed' into the roof, so I'm assuming that this is not the case and the base fitting cannot be unscrewed from the roof panel, leaving the securing nut in place

I'm loathe to buy an alternative aerial (windscreen jobby etc), because if I cannot remove the aerial base from the roof and I cut the coax to remove the now swinging aerial rod, I'm assuming that the hole in the base will be a perfect means of water ingress quite quickly.

Any help or advice, greatly appreciated!!

remove the front headlining sounds daunting but its very easy.  Sun visors , interior light  grab handles then plastic trims  down the side of windscreen.  next pull door rubbers away from top of doors and headlining is out
