ifigureditout Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 anyone got factory sat nav on their c4. thinking of getting it when i order my c4 for the integration and look but how good is it? for example, how well does it integrate with the radio/cd/parking sensors etc... Quote
Stuey Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I think there is only Leemarsh who has it...it does look fly and will help with resale value... Quote
ifigureditout Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 yeah thats what i'm thinking. i know its a rip off but it looks good and i'd rather that than having a tom tom on the dash Quote
Stuey Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 now that all the software updates are out it works too, so lee says anyway...it does other stuff too, big screen for the cd player and I think you can turn it into TV/DVD screen I seem to recall Quote
ham's c4vts Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 its alot of dosh though, perhaps try tomTom or others? Quote
ifigureditout Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 hmmm yeah i know its alot. but the whole integration and having the screen for the cd player and parking sensors would be a big plus Quote
lee_marshuk Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Yeah does look really cool, has a lot of nice features like re-routing round traffic problems, voice commands, auto-mute of radio/cd - plus going through the stereo amp directly so you can actually hear what its saying, nice POI support, integration directly with your directory (e.g. "Guide to, Mother - in -Laws") (although, incidentally, this one is programmed to take me on a trip from Wolverhampton to Birmingham via Paris, so I never actually get there  ) If you want to know anything specific about it.....let me know! wozza Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Really good system after have a mess with Lee's at the first C4 meet i liked it. But if your worried about spending so much on a system you cant move to another car there are other options from pioneer for similar price which give just as good a navigation but also have a few cool extras. But the C4 one is nice for the built in thing. Think if i had £1000 to spend though on a satnav i would now probably go with an incar computer instead. Quote
GRUMPY Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 re-routing round traffic problemsYou have forgotten how you got that update, the rest if us have to wait untill July next year for the TCM. Unless you are feeling kind then you could send us copies of the update disc you haveOn the whole I like it but it has taken 19 months to get it working correctly. That I think is down to the dealer I am using. Get as much info from the salesman as you can and get it in writing. Then make sure it's all working before you pay for the car. If it set up correctly it's a very useful addition the voice controls mean you can do a lot of things without taking your eyes off the road. Not only play dvd but also display camcorder and digital camera pictures as long as you have the correct lead, the connectors are in the glovebox. If it was just a satnav I would not have bought it but it's much more than that. Quote
Mat Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 But can you take the Citroen fitted SatNav and fit it to your bike? Can you change the software and run high definition OS maps for hiking? Can you track you position, via GSM?Can you record your position and upload to GEarth at home? What about security, can you simply remove it from the car so its not stolen? If you have a hire car, can you use it in that? Can you setup your journeys from the comfort of your amrchair, or in front of a large scale map? Independant SatNav on PDA/Smartphone is the way to go. Quote

dave&trace Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Built in sat nav is very clever we have a garmin portable for work but prefer our inbuilt sat nav system it cuts the radio off for directions were the garmin does not Voice activation is goodeg take me home and it does  only fault is DVD screen cuts off around 5mph are kids are not happy Quote
ifigureditout Posted November 11, 2006 Author Posted November 11, 2006 theres a way around the dvd screen problem. got a feeling its illegal though. i want the jbl too, now i know you lose the mp3 function but its still possible to combine the two rite? i keep asking citroen these questions but they have yet to answer grrr Quote
Stuey Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 eg take me home and it does  even when your pished?? self driving car, clearly the way of the future Quote
dave&trace Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 David slurs the orders but because he programed the voice commands she doesn`t listen to me so i do the steering and pressing the go faster pedal Ha Ha  i think i`ve got the best bit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote

That I think is down to the dealer I am using. The TMC updated discs should be out now.....if your dealer doesn't know what your on about let me know I'll get you the part number. Its dead easy to spot, since the CD states "powered by TrafficMaster". i want the jbl too, now i know you lose the mp3 function but its still possible to combine the two rite? You can (I do) have the JBL and NaviDrive, yes. You don't loose the mp3 function either, but it becomes a bit pointless, since you can either take the Navi CD out and put an MP3 CD in (i.e. Sat Nav part of the unit doesn't function) or the other way round. There is no way with that kit of playing an MP3 CD and using the Satellite Guidance. Quote
ifigureditout Posted November 12, 2006 Author Posted November 12, 2006 ah rite i get ya. i definately think the sat nav is worth it for the whole integration Quote
terrwilk Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Hi yes I have it too on my exclusive! But as with others the TMC does work in the UK, interesting if you quiz the saleman as to the functionality of TMC, as Citroen UK do not have a license for TMC. Other than that, its a cool device, the pnone is handy as is voice commands great hands free kit.The mapping is good but not up to date and I think the CD's are expensive, but not available from Navteq yet for the C4. terrwilk Iron grey 2.0 HDI exclusive. rcandelori Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 If you want MP3 capability, install Part # 9706.AG from Peugeot and they can activate an Auxiliary Port so you can plug your iPod or other MP3 player in to the system without getting a tacky after market unit. Quote
