Over the last week the VTS hasnt had much chance to stretch its power curve very much as after I went down with a case of Berry Berry the car been used on the daily grind of the daily commute. This basically is all heavy traffic in and heavy out.

So today is its first chance to stretch its legs on a run into Bath.

When I got in the car the first thing I noticed is...

The ammount of fuel (99RON) it has drank over the week. The trip meter is recording 20.3mpg for a total of 67miles average speed 14mph. Yet the fuel tank shows 4 bars down from top.....Normally each bar equates to 30-40miles.... B)

Not the most accurate measuring device I know but its just not all adding up compared to normal?! The tank range has jumped all over the shop today as well with a full tank reading.....278miles then up to 348, to 410 down to 378 (with one bar gone)......

So get out on the road in it and its really didnt see to have much guts to go. Gave it a good couple of blasts which seemed to help however It just doesnt seem to have much go from low down....eg pulling away and mid range it just didnt push you back in the seat...it just sounded like it was wanting to say

"Yeah yeah yeah alright I'll get there when I'm ready!"

I'm just hoping its having one of those days.... B)

take it somewhere where no one is around and red line it a few times when its stationary, it may be the injectors are a bit clogged up. You could always nip to a car parts shop and get some engine flush that should help (assuming it is a blocked injector)

driven loads of these and found they dont have much bottom end power. you have to make them howl to get them to go. i would not red line an engine while not under any labour as things tend to slap around when free reving.

Yes I know you have to really get them winding to get something out of it, however it just didnt seem to be behaving as it should, very lathargic.

Not really one for winding them all the way up to Red Line to be honest only done it a couple of times. And round here you just dont have the roads, space or traffic calming free area to do it! Even if I jump on the Motorway the chances are speeds wouldnt go above 50 because of the volumes of traffic........

I'm out in it again later so see how it behaves....

Well things are looking up...

Took it ouf for a blast today and things are certainly better. Certainly has a lot more go in it and needs less winding up and fuel eco is picking up acording to the trip comp....Interestingly the range to fill up has again increased...barmy.

however today VTS nearly met its end...

Me and the GF were heading out of Bristol on the M32 approaching a bridge I could see three lads p*ssing about on top...its a two lane motorway, I'm on the outside lane just as we approach the bridge I see on the motorway debris scattered everywhere and then then it was our turn... just as we are about to go under the bridge something hit the deck about 1.5m in front of the car and fortunatly for us had a lucky bounce and went into the central reservation verge... very close one....

Not sure what it was as at the time I was thinking about trying to shed off as much speed as I can with out loosing it or causing an accident, however anything being dropped from 15m above into something moving at 70mph+ is going to cause some damage and will certainly go through a windscreen....

Just to let you all know in case your wondering I HAVE change my pants since this afternoon! :D

At 70 I think all they would have heard was TTTTTTWWW after I'd hit the airbag of course :D

I'd throw them off the bridge and make sure they hit the deck 1.5m infront of the car. That way they get two impacts for the price of one.

I just dont think people understand the consequences. Only a couple of weeks ago there was a pile up on the M5 at Bridgewater where someone threw tyres over the bridge into the motorway below..in the fog.

Glad you're ok mate - remember once I drove under the M6 bridge before the Stoke turn off, and shortly behind a brick was lobbed off said bridge by some twaaaaaaaaaaaaats (see Wozza's horn) and killed the people in the car it hit, I was gutted.

I just can't contemplate some people thinking "oh I know, we'll go and lob some bricks off a motorway bridge" - well let's face it, there's only one word for them - murderers.

agree, attempted murder in my eyes. the worst thing is if you managed to catch these feckers and give them a kicking it would be you who ended up in court. my advice is always carry a ski mask and a cosh in your car for times like these.

But what can they do to them if they do catch them. Give them a pep talk tell them its dangerous yada yada yada....next week they are doing it again.

Trouble is if I got hold of one of them I'd kill the little....

What the little scrotes dont realise is that I'll be spending the next week trying to remove the stains from the drivers seat cushion.... :P

Once again...I am glad I have Supagard (for what its worth!) :D
